Edge of your seat!
What a movie! It started out a bit slow (character building) and you really have to pay attention to the British dialogue but stand by when it takes off, it'll be gripping to the end. Keep in mind that this is based off a true story which makes it more intense and the real people are shown at the end with a brief narrative about them. I'm glad to have found this one. HIGHLY recommended, and those who served will appreciate the reality of it all.

I have to say this is my new favorite war film
As a combat veteran of this area, as a History major in university, and as a movie lover: absolutely well done. The character development fro the beginning is flawless as it draws you VERY quickly into the likeable guys you come across. A prior knowledge of military procedure and lingo at first seems vital, but objectively it moves beyond such concerns into pure human experience. Watched in its entirety, I have to say this is my new favorite war film. And so many small details to absorb will make it a lifelong part of any collection. Semper Paratus lads.

Brutal Realities of Modern Ground Warfare
Not for the faint of heart, yet quite realistic. The acting is inconsistent and the story often does not flow smoothly. Sometimes unclear which person is involved. Being a veteran and experienced, I would say that this is a very realistic effort to depict the modern guerilla warfare.

A great story of the impact of war
Although you really need familiarity with Scottish and English accents and slang, and some familiarity with British Army terms, to fully enjoy & appreciate the movie, it is the best I've ever seen on the subject of the recent wars (Iraq, Afghanistan) and one of the best on any war. I was on the edge of my seat from the moment the first landmine exploded until the last scene of the movie which showed the incredibly brave medic in shorts on the casevac helicopter (i.e. that he survived). It's a great story of young men thrust into a difficult situation, how they rise to the challenge and the terrible and lasting impact of war & landmines.

So-so
Not a great movie. Interesting in a boring kind of way. Depicts courage of course, but it almost seems more like a disaster movie than a movie about combat. Maybe that is the point of the movie...war is a disaster.

Outstanding drama with tremendous acting.
A very taut drama with a ring of authenticity to it that was spellbinding. I couldn't recommend it more highly. It is not a "shootem-up" by any means, and while the military aspects of it were absolutely authentic, it is better seen as a drama than a war movie. Though not one that the squeamish would easily stomach - uncompromising on the grizzly aspects of woundings. The characters come amazingly to life - partly a function of great directing, and partly due to the tremendous talent of the actors. I would happily watch it again and equally happily recommend it.

Total mess of a movie and not worth a dime or your time
This was bad. Very bad. I gave it an hour and 20 minutes of the hour and 48 minutes of its runtime. It started off fairly interesting. However, my main complaint about the movie is that after some of the characters stepped on the mines, it's like you're actually there with the British Army, taking care of these wounded soldiers, waiting for a MedEvac. Nothing else is happening! It's like the writers and directors fell asleep at the wheel and the cameras kept rolling while the cast continued to nervously put out dialogue. It's honestly, one of the laziest films I've ever seen. I don't understand all the good reviews. I've seen so many movies like this that are either rushed or badly made that do nothing but put actors on a set in front of a camera for two hours and have them do something. There's no story here. There's no effort.I don't recommend this.

Don't Miss Out! A Great Film
Excellent portrayal of true events in the tradition of Black Hawk Down and Lone Survivor. I was literally on the edge of my seat through the whole thing, it was very intense and emotional. Others have mentioned the strong accents making parts difficult to understand, but please don't let that prevent you from watching a film with better production and acting than most of the big-budget productions out there. A compelling true story of some incredibly brave men. Trigger warning: You can expect realistic, graphic violence for those who can't stomach that.

A DVD in German is as useless to me as a book in braille.
The DVD was in German, somewhat surprising from a UK site and, as I do not understand, speak or read german it was worthless.
