Brought as a gift for a book and knowledge lover. They really enjoyed the book.

Great variety of comments which can be applied to numerous situations, an entertaining and practical guide to comments which make a mark.

This is book is very funny. Great too dip in and out of and reminds you we British do have a great way with words. Could do with a bit more contemporary quotes but still worth a buy. Actually I have bought 3 for different people for gifts.

This was well received and is being enjoyed by an elderly relative.

Bought as a present. Read the first few pages and a couple of paragraphs made me smile. May get better later on

This book is good.I bought one for all the males in my family as an Xmas present.They loved it.Lots of typical British humor,very easy to read and very entertaining ,A good read.

Enjoyed the book immensely and will keep it for future reference.Some classic quotes from politicians and of course Oscar Wilde.

Perfect choice for my mother's birthday - she's English and has been living in france for 60 years or so....

Fünf Minuten Zeit. Was macht man da? Langweilen oder Zitate lesen. Ich plädiere für letzteres. Einfach das Buch irgendwo aufschlagen und die Doppelseite lesen. Ein all-time-fave: "Gentleman's wash: a hurried cleaning of the male genitals in anticipation of sex, usually in a pub sink"Die Zitate sind thematisch gruppiert, was es einfacher macht, sie wiederzufinden. Es hätte natürlich noch gewonnen, wenn zu jedem Zitat auch noch der Nachweis über die genaue Stelle im Werk mitgeliefert werden würde. Das wäre aber wahrscheinlich eine übermenschliche Aufgabe und würde das Buch auf das anderthalbfache seiner Größe aufblasen.

Sooo clever, some of these lines, that you can only digest about seven (half a pages' worth ) at a time. Hence this review's title. But it's worth it, because you can keep your favorites from this storehouse in your back pocket, and zip one of the best out at the right moment , thereby achieving the status of "a wit."
