Guns for General Washington: A Story of the American Revolution Review: very captivating and so informative - This is reading for my fifth grade grandchild as she is studying this time in history. It so reveals the perseverance in hardship that many went through to bring about victory for the American nation at this time. And you won’t want to put it down. Review: Must Read - I loved this story. I love history and the Revolutionary War has always been sadly overlooked in American story-telling. So many stepped up in a time of need like this that it is easy to overlook the fact that they were common people who knew how to work within the bounds and elements they faced with a foresight and determination that is uncommon. The heroes in this story exemplify this.I hate to think where we would be without them. The book is written as an adventure story for young readers, and young readers, as well as senior citizens like me, will enjoy the story. It keeps your interest very well, and since it is a true story of victory, the ending is great. I can't wait to pass it on to my great-nephew and great-nieces. They'll love it, too.

Good read for 8th grader that does not like to read
I bought this book for my pre-teen son. It was an easy read that he was able to finish in one day, digest, and come back and provide me with a book report about. He was able to explain the story to me in a few minutes which tells me the book is well written and understandable. Also, the book was read in one (summer) day giving him a sense of accomplishment and building confidence.

A "Must-Read"
Review by Seth, age 12: Guns for General Washington is a climactic adventure strictly based on true events that helped the colonies win the Revolution. When the rebels are extremely low on supplies what are they willing to risk to obtain the artillery and ammunition they need to potentially keep them from losing all control? This is a great exciting book that entertains and educates at the same time. I think this is a must read if you are studying the Revolution. In each chapter there is a new conflict. This would make a great movie. Actors who I would cast to fit the roles are Viggo Mortensen, Gary Sinise and more.

excellent historical storytelling for young boys
I read and review stories for young boys, because that's what I have. This was a hugely successful book. It's compelling to read aloud. Reit is a natural storyteller who paces the narrative very well with short chapters that appeal to little ones' attention span. His language is pitched just right--a few words had to be explained, but that stretches the young mind. And, it has the additional advantage of being a true story from our nation's origins. Books for youngsters hardly ever get better than this. Highly recommended.

This is an exciting book for any outdoorsy kid or one who enjoys history (or any kid who has visited Lake George or Fort Ticonderoga and has taken an interest in their history). It is a little-known part of the War for Independence for historically significant. Those who succeeded in breaking the siege of Boston through the difficult task of bringing the cannons for Fort Ti to Boston showed much grit, perseverance, toughness, patience, and incredible problem-solving abilities. This book is an insperation!

Fun
Easy to read engaging historical fiction. A great story of brotherhood, friendship, courage, patriotism, loyalty, and hope. I liked the nature of of the Knox brothers: always a positive and hopeful. Reminds me it's great to be in a family.
