In 1930-1960s Soviet holiday ornaments were made of cotton wool. Final result depended a lot on the maker's skills so each ornament had its own personality. Unfortunately, industrial manufacturing could not embrace the technique, and in some time this little gem of craft disappeared and were replaced with colourful glass balls and figurines. Luxury Xmass ornaments is n a new Christmas collection, that helps me recreate and share my dear memories of Russian "Yolka". It was a kind of carnival, with children wearing animal costumes and dancing around the big, shiny, magical Christmas tree. Each of the ornaments is a little "Yolka" dancer. She/he has a hand-painted paper clay face, a flexible wooly body and a never-repeated costume richly decorated with embroidery, vintage lace and beads. A sterling silver hoop and thread are also included so you can hang your ornament right away. Each piece comes in a glass dome stand making it easy to store and showcase. Doll size - about 16.5 cm Dom size - height 18 cm width 10 cm Material: wool, paper clay, beads, vintage laces
