Built-in Ironing Board/Wall Mounted or Recessed/Hide Away

If you buy this for an unfinished basement or maybe a closet where it is out of sight, you could just put it up without painting it. The door is MDF, darker than the birch frame, but in those cases that probably does not matter.I put it in a laundry room with nicely finished cabinets, so I painted it. The frame was somewhat rough and needed sanding. The door is MDF, which is basically molded paper and glue and cannot be sanded. Both are very "thirsty" and two coats of paint were not sufficient. I'll add a third after it's up.All of the sanding and painting took a few hours and the results will reflect the care you take. Still, it does not resemble the finished cabinets, though it's fine for a laundry room. All in all, it is a good value for the money, but will require some time and attention to look good.Since I surface-mounted the unit to the wall, I did not need the four trim pieces supplied. It looks like you would recess the unit into the wall, leaving 1/2" sticking out, then attach the trim pieces (1/2" thick) to the wall around the outside of the unit. But the trim pieces are all 1" shorter than is needed!

Budget board with no frills. It is just deep enough to house the ironing board which is great if you are trying to recess the whole thing. Most built-in boards stick out from the wall at least 5-7in. The door is plan MDF and has to be added to if you want more flair. At least you can built it to fit your house style. The board is firm enough to use, yet it not something you could sit on.

Easy to mount. But a little chincy. Really nothing fancy, simple design. Needs paint and a handle but it’ll get the job done.

I have a small laundry room so need an ironing board that is convenient but also not in the way. This is slim against the wall and pretty much takes up no room. Easy to install, sturdy, and seller was also very responsive to a question I had.

Nice item and serves the purpose for which I needed it for. However, the item is advertised as having the ability to choose either right or left mounted door. It came with the door firmly attached on the right side. Luckily, this is the side it needed it on, but if you purchase realize that the door comes attached only on one side. Otherwise, OK.

There were no clear instructions or mounting hardware. Since my husband is a building contractor he was able to make it work. I doubt the average homeowner would have the tools , hardware or know-how
