Prior to the board arriving I received an email from the retailer thanking me for the purchase. It arrived in a very stylish box, wrapped in a ribbon! Inside, the board was wrapped in tissue paper on which was printed some of the history of the retailer (Jaques). There was also a note to tell me that it had all been hand wrapped by Emma. The board and the pieces are all solid wood. The board is a lovely natural light coloured wood and the pieces are brightly coloured. There is also a lovely bag for the pieces. All in all, you get the impression that it has been made just for you.

Perfect for time away from gadgets. Two games that seem complicated at first glance, but are very easy to pick up. Encourages children (and adults) to think logically and work out strategies. Beautifully boxed it looks more expensive than it actually was. A lovely item to hand down from generation to generation. The beauty of wood is it warms to the touch and is very tactile, it is also completely recyclable. However I think we will have to wait MANY years before this wears out.

I loved this as a child and rediscovered it recently. Its a brilliant game of pure skill and strategy- also quite short so great for little tournaments of an evening. I find the pegs pop out easily if you don't have the tiniest of hands and brush against them, I miss the marbles from my childhood game. Also it would have been nice to have the geometric guidlines on the board, especially important for a beginner, so I drew them on myself to help my newbie partner. But it is a very lovely little board and I love the colour choices of the pegs .

My daughters have really enjoyed playing Chinese Checkers and keep wanting to play "just one more game!" It was delivered quickly and was beautifully packaged. The game board and wooden playing pieces are solid and well made. It's great to have the option of two games to play (Chinese Checkers and Go Bang) and the instructions for both are clearly explained. The size of the game makes it perfect to pop away in the cupboard or take on holiday. I would highly recommend this game!

I ordered a 'Chinese Chequers' set for my father, who is 102, and who used to play this game with me when I was a child. He said he had never seen a nicer set. It is absolutely beautiful, and will last for years - I fully expect my grandson to be using it with his own children in twenty years' time.

Quality was good, but can see things going missing as no 'all in one' storage, there is just one bag for the pieces and only the board. I guess it will be store in the box it was delivered in. I tried it out last night and it was initially smaller than I imagined, i had hoped to buy marbles for the chinese checkers to play the game but this wouldnt work as would be really small marbles! The Go board was good in that it gives you 2 games in one, however the board has the corners cut out, or, so that there is a completed square to play within, if you were to play by removing the outer edges that would work but the markings make it really confusing which in hindsight if it was just the markings of a smaller square it would have worked. plus there isnt enough Go pieces in the pack to fill the board! this makes it difficult to complete a game, having to replay captured stones and scoring on a separate piece of paper makes it a little difficult to keep track. separate holders for the pieces would be a nice touch, or a way to store the game better would be my recommendation for the item!

Another grannie’s and grandad’s purchase. The name came up in a book I was reading, that turned into one of those “do you remember” conversations and because of that grandad went shopping! As a number of our wooden garden games are branded by Jacques of London I expected their quality control to be up to scratch. Yes, made in Peoples Republic of “You-know-where”, but nothing inferior about these. I wanted something solid and well made and I got just that.

schönes Holz, gut verpackt, nicht sehr groß aber steht auch so in der Beschreibung. Anscheinend bekam ich bei der ersten Lieferung ein wieder zurück geschicktes Spiel welches mangelhaft war. im Zweifelsfall also zurück schicken und noch mal bestellen, lohnt sich. alt: erstes Spiel leider nicht so schön, beim Go auf der Rückseite sind die Markierungslinien total ausgefranst und verschmiert. kriege es auch nicht ab. ging daher leider zurück. wer nur das Halma will, ok, aber mich störts schon wenn ich weiss wie es auf der Rückseite ausschaut... weil der Rest gut gearbeitet ist gibts 2 Sterne statt einem.

Le produit est vraiment magnifique dans un emballage classe. Néanmoins, je m'attendais à une taille du plateau de jeu plus grande. Hélas la taille du plateau n'était pas précisée (20cm).

Das Spiel kam gut verpackt und schnell an. Es tut was es soll, mehr kann man ja nicht verlangen. Die Größe lässt sich gut spielen und es fallen keine Püppchen um.
