The charcoal discs are super easy to light -- I usually hold them by one end and light the other, then keep it outside until it becomes completely white (otherwise it creates too much smoke indoor). They'll spark for a while, and the white part would spread out slowly. Usually takes about 5 minutes for this process to finish. Then I put it on the screen of my incense burner, put a layer of sand on top of the disc, and then the resin on top of the sand. The first time I put the resin directly on the disc and it created so much smoke in my room that it became a bit concerning. Having a layer of sand between the disc and resin actually makes the experience much much more pleasant.I noticed some people on Youtube hold the disc with bare hands, and I suggest highly against doing that. The dics becomes super hot so it makes so much more sense to hold the disc with tong, which conveniently comes with the dics anyway.

They were also not supposed to omit an oder, but the few that worked properly smelled of chemicals.
