Pam Herbals Indian Long Pepper Pipal Pippali (Whole)

It had a smell which i personally do not like, may be others would like it but its not my type of herb to consume.

This is the original pepper used in Europe before black pepper became prevalent in the 14th century. It has a very nice flavor, similar to black, but more floral and spicy. I very much like it.

First time working with this spice! I was pleased with the quality of the packaging and the fragrance. We used the long pepper to make an ancient mulled wine recipe called 'Hippocras' it was delicious!

When I first opened the package, all I could think of is "cinnamon". I ground it in my coffee/spice grinder, then tried a bit. WOW! So spicy! Flavors of cinnamon, allspice, black pepper, and some subtle flavors that I could not place, but I liked a lot. Even several minutes after trying it, my mouth is still zinging, the aroma is still on my hand, and the flavor lingers. I can not wait to try this on some chicken in my freezer.

Wonderful flavor...packaging could be better to preserve freshness. Overall, these peppers have the flavor I was looking for. This is a must if you make certain South Asian dishes.
