Xl50 LED Torch - Black

I bought this torch because I walk everywhere and am out and about quite a lot during the dark winter mornings and evenings; I wanted something compact but far more powerful than the standard smaller maglites which, while cheap, and very well made for the price offer a somewhat limited amount of light. It is worth every penny. I stayed away from the older XL100 model because I'd heard it was overcomplicated and offered too many modes; the XL50 has no such issues. There are three modes, activated by clicking the button once, twice or three times. Full power, which is astoundingly bright and clearly illuminates objects up to 200 metres away while also offering a good spread of light while pointed at the ground. Half power, which is still good for walking and gets around the problem of blinding people walking towards you and strobe, which is excellent if you need to be seen, perhaps if you were walking along a road without a pavement. I've found the battery life to be more than sufficient and have noticed no reduction in brightness even after several hours of continuous use. In short, if you want something powerful but don't want to lug some 2 or 3 D battery monster around with you then this is the torch for you.

Very well made, stylish, great battery life, with 3 settings operated by the thumb button on the end. Brightest setting is very bright indeed. Quite possibly has a premium price for being a Maglite but it is a quality item, mine has been with me to a Sahara trek and accompanied me on numerous other trips and been faultless. This purchase is a second one to keep with my car, the first bought some 7 years ago is still going strong. Whilst it’s robust it’s not waterproof, though.

Fantastic little torch. The brilliance is unbelievable for the size of it! A little expensive, but that goes for any item from the Maglite range. Fits easily in any jacket pocket. Haven't tried it's claim to water resistance yet, but overall I'm very impressed and pleased with this!

I got this for walking and hiking at night (in winter when dusk is early) and it’s great. Good size for a pocket and very bright. The low setting is also useful so all round a good buy, and a quality product.

The torch is bright, however I have compared it with a cheaper, non brand torch I bought for around £10 and they are very similar. I suspect that this torch may be longer lasting however im not sure it warrants the expensive price tag.

M as n this things brights, bought as was caught unprepared during a power cut, maglite are the best torches around. Very happy.

Excellent torch with a very good light in a small package. Small and handy enough to be carried around. Batteries are easily available in most supermarkets and last a good time. Highly recommended.

Super bright for its size and batteries it takes! But it will eat through batteries quickly.

Ich habe die Maglite XL50 meiner Mutter vor 4 Wochen zum Geburtstag geschenkt, weil sie eine nicht zu schwere, handliche, helle und leicht zu bedienende Taschenlampe haben wollte, ohne allzuviel "Schnick-Schnack", den sie ohnehin nicht nutzen würde. Ich hatte sie vorab meine XL100 testen lassen, die schon mal von Größe und Gewicht her bei meiner Mutter punkten konnte. Bei meiner "Shoppingtour" bei Amazon bin ich dann auf die XL50 gestoßen, die nach meiner Ansicht eine "abgespeckte" Variante der XL100 zu sein schien, aber für meine Mutter genau die richtige Taschenlampe sein dürfte. Nun habe ich mal nachgefragt und ein durchweg positives Feedback von meiner Mutter für die XL50 erhalten. Sie sei schön leicht, hell, ließe sich gut halten und sei mit dem Schalter am Ende auch sehr leicht zu bedienen. Es sei kein Drehen oder sonstiges Hantieren erforderlich, die Größe sei ideal und die Helligkeit auf beiden Stufen (die sie wohl tatsächlich auch nutzt, ich war ganz erstaunt) sei auch sehr gut. Sie sei mit meinem Geschenk jedenfalls mehr als zufrieden! Und was will man mehr als brave Tochter ;-)?

Soy usuario de las Mag-Lite de toda la vida desde hace muchos años y de sus LED desde que alcanzaron cierta madurez. Son estupendas pero necesitaba una que se pudiera operar con una sola mano. No necesito más funciones que las que tiene las XL50: máxima potencia, 25% de potencia y strobe. Las XL 100 y XL 200 (con más funciones) tienen además cierto consumo residual de pilas estando en reposo debido a la electrónica. El cualquier caso las tres son asombrosas. La XL 50 actual tiene un LED de mayor potencia (ahora 200 lúmenes) y es un producto estupendo. Luz táctica pero usando pilas AAA en lugar de las de litio algo más difíciles de encontrar y más caras que usan las Surefire o las Mag-Tac de tipo táctico. Como siempre en Mag-Lite, acabado excelente.

Cette torche est vraiment parfait. La puissance et là et elle respire la solidité. Très bonne autonomie. Je recommande, même pour la randonnée.

The light is near white LED and cuts through the dark. I have used it to light up upto 22 storeys high alongside a building and it works just fine. Its compact and convenient. Improvement can be it can be less slippery and can have a lanyard loop as well. It can roll over very easily from the table.
