Chimfit2 Meters Of 10mm Stove Rope & 30ml Adhesive Pack - Replacement Seals

I purchased this product to replace the rope on my wood burning stove and as my wood burner is in daily use I wanted a glue which would cure quickly so I wouldn't have to go too long without using the stove. The product description currently states that you should "allow at least 15 minutes setting time before closing the doors" and that "some glues take up to 24 hours to cure".The glue I received states that it takes "several days" to cure which isn't as described but I decided to try it anyway. The glue was like water even after shaking the bottle well before opening and wasn't even slightly sticky. After 30 minutes I expected the glue to hold the rope while I reattached the door but the rope simply fell off when I picked up the door. I tried again but left the rope glued to the door for 3 hours and weighted down to keep pressure on it, when I reattached the door to the stove the rope fell off again.Looking through the reviews in more detail makes me think that most people receive good glue but some people receive watered down junk which doesn't work.

I held off writing this review until I had chance to use another product for comparison. Now that I have, I can say categorically that this stuff (the adhesive) is very very poor indeed. Not only is it extremely runny and therefore messy, it simply doesn't do the job as it interacts with the supplied rope to make it brittle and powdery. Not ideal when you want some degree of elasticity to remain in the rope to get a good seal on your door. I used this in November to completely replace the rope, had to reapply it several times, where the rope came adrift - by January the stuff had kind of 'eaten' into the rope to such an extent that it just perished and came loose. Interestingly the old rope could be crumbled into a dust with just finger pressure where it had been in contact with this glue.I've just replaced the rope with a different product and it took a fraction of the time with zero mess - I will monitor how it performs before recommending it since I accept that simple ease of application isn't everything, though its a good start!

We have a small (6kw) wood burning stove, with a door approximately 30cm square. This has a seal around the outside, and then a smaller pane of glass requiring a seal also.This kit - consisting of the 10mm rope and a bottle of adhesive, gives sufficient rope to replace both seals with a little to spare to allow for overlaps, mistakes etc!Previously I have used a silicone based adhesive where there is little run-off or dribbling. This adhesive is a liquid so will need the door laying flat to ensure the adhesive sits evenly in the channel where the seal will lay. (and so it doesn't run all over the floor - a couple of sheets of newspaper may help!)Instructions on the bottle advise 24h to allow it to set - we left for 3 hours on top of the (lit) stove to heat through before re-hanging the door, there was no dribblage of adhesive.All in all a great kit for the money, more than enough adhesive for next time, or for another stove - just buy more rope!

Item arrived quickly. initially I was very pleased. After getting instruction on fitting as it doesn't come with any fitting instructions, I thoroughly cleaned the area where the stove rope was to go , it went on easily & the glue initially stuck well. I left it a few days before lighting the fire and all seemed well. After a week the rope came away from the door but was easily stuck back as you get lots of glue with a long shelf life, but then I noticed the rope seems to have 'shrunk' so isn't providing a tight seal as it initially did. I've adjusted the door handle on the fire as far as it will go but it has made little difference & I can see the glow of the fire whilst the door is closed. This is the first time I have ever had to replace the rope, so I have nothing to compare it to in regards to quality & fitting. Price, initially I thought was good but now if I have to buy more rope is not as cost effective as i had first thought so am now quite disappointed

Dreadful... I followed the instructions on the back of the glue bottle but it will not stick, not even slightly! Glue has the same viscosity as water and just about the same adhesion qualities. When applying the glue it just runs and drips with not even a slight change of holding the rope! I have fitted new fire ropes below so it is not down to inexperience. Now I have to clean up the mess and look for an alternative product that will do what is sold. Not to the usual high standard of product usually associated with Amazon.

Thanking the supplier for a speedy delivery, good quality rope, the adhesive that sets hard so apply to the door first and gently push the rope pre- cut before hand into place, wipe away any glue right away.Kelly was extremely helpful with any information and I cannot thank her enough, a well priced product, from a very reliable company.

I used this for the first time yesterday - and the rope just fell-out like I'd used grey-water after 24 hours to set.I'll try with another make of glue to fit the rope once this useless product dries to see if I can fit the rope - then if that fails I'll get another make and product.Very unhappy.

Don't do what I did and just guess the correct size. I bought it too big and so not a great fit. My fault though and not the product itself.
