It is a mid-weight jacket. I wore mine all last winter, so it depends upon the person. It is silent, so in that respect it would be a good hunting coat. Personally, I think it is a little light for hunting in winter. For fall hunting, it would be perfect.

I got the tall size. It fits great. The tail hangs low enough to keep my stomach covered. (6’1” 325#)
