John Wick: Chapter 2 [DVD] [2017]

The John Wick films are great - if you don't mind a rather violent film!Had episode 1 and 3 so needed to get this one to complete my set.Just what I wanted.Not much else to say really!

If you have seen the first John Wick film then this will come as no surprise because it follows the same pattern of Wick [Keanu Reeves] being forced back to his old profession. What follows is basically an hour and a half gunfight with enough ammunition being expended to start a small war and as with the first film no matter how many people are killed there is absolutely no sign of the police!!. Stylistically the film seems to owe a debt to the Hong Kong style of people like John Woo with it's Neon lit world and balletic fight sequences, so although violent the film is very good to look at with a spectacular mirror gunfight climax that may owe something to Orson Welles's Lady From Shanghai or for those of you with a more seventies bent The Man With The Golden Gun. As with the first film there are some eye catching cameos from Laurence Fishburne, Franco Nero and from the first film Ian Mc Shane and Reeves is good as the reluctant cold eyed killer with a dog. So what you have is the same again only more so.

Can I swear on these? Not sure so I shall start by saying Flip me that was flipping awesome! I loved the original but the sequel takes that concept and builds on it in just about every conceivable way. The action is amazing, the locations are gorgeous, the world the film exists in is fascinating and multi layered. Easily the best action film I have seen in a long time and up there as one of the best movie surprises I have had since Edge of Tomorrow.I would recommend this movie to anyone to loves action movies, particularly the likes of Matrix, Blade, Crank or even martial arts action movies such as the Raid or Ong Bak. This is as High Octane and kick ass as it gets and I cannot wait to see what they manage with the third. Please dont let us down! :)
