Anastasia: The Royal Ballet (Hewett) [DVD] [NTSC]

We never feel less than very enthusiastic about MacMillan Ballets, but this is a world beater. Bob Crowley's designs are compelling, the dancing and choreography are of course wonderful, the music of Tchaik easy and comfortable, that of Martinu suitably troubling. But the most startling thing here is the unbelievable (sic, but you just wonder) story. Absolutely compelling all round.

Great film and good fast service

Missed seeing it by Royal Ballet and have always been fascinated by the Story,,,So was delighted to be able to buy it on Blu ray,,,, THOUGH I ENJOYED THE DISC, I found the last movement utterly cold and mystifying in its darkness,,,and to tell the truth,its misery ,, the third time I matched it,,, I ended it when the last movement--came on---I find the Ballet conflicted with the form of a Classical Ballet style --- with a ending danced in a contempory fashion,with some strange choreography......,

Impressive version of this story. The last part is not for children. But my daughter enjoyed the first parts.

We enjoyed this ballet just as much on DVD as we did at the Royal Opera House.

So pleased that it was eventually put onto DVD .. Osipiva is amazing as always. .

No puedo ser imparcial, cualquier coreografía de MacMillan me parece estupenda.Esta no la conocía pero cumple todo lo que esperaba, mantiene su estilo peculiar entre clásico y moderno.Osipova genial, como siempre.

Excellente chorégraphie qui retrace l'histoire de la fausse Anastasia. Et quels magnifiques danseurs ! A voir et entendre.

My 9 year old dancer is doing one of her dances to a song from this ballet. She was just mesmerized watching this.

divertimento

I have not been a fan of Osipova....until now. She is wonderful,in this remarkable ballet. This is another example of Kenneth McMillan's wonderful choreography. A story well told, and superb company, performing exciting national dances. I am so glad I have this in my collection.
