Safe, Comprehensive and Different
It must be three years since I did any form of exercise; I have a weak back, damaged knees and very litle motivation. I've tried exercise videos before and get bored with them. After four of five sessions I usually grow to hate the background music and get annoyed with the happy-clappy instructor shouting at me. They are either too fast for me or patronisingly slow.I had seen an excerpt of this DVD on Youtube - the warm-up. I was struck by the fact that the instructor was completely silent and the music was so low-key to the point that I didn't notice it (and that's a good thing if, like me, you find that the background music interferes with your hearing). Instead, a calm, informative voice-over explained the movements and the modifications properly. When the credits rolled, I saw that the instructor and 'models' were French, so no wonder there was no shouting or gabbled instructions from the front!I recognised some of the stretches and movements from my younger fitter days, but they were presented in a gradual slow build up and adapted for the less supple of us. There were one or two movements that I had never come across before, either on a video or at an excercise class - mostly to do with balance and coordination. They were different but do-able. By the time we got to the end of the main session, I recognised that I had just been through a challenging session set at the right pace for me and it left me feeling very pleased with myself. The exercises are just what I needed to start getting in shape and I liked the low-key way in which they were presented. Have a look on Youtube for the excerpt before you buy and see whether the style of instruction suits you too.

A Good Exercise Class
FITNESS FOR THE OVER 50'swith Nancy MarmoratAs an experienced fitness instructor dealing with this age group I was intrigued to see what this range of DVD's offered, especially in light of one or two of the negative comments. This is not an over-produced, over-polished, American type production. It is a well thought-out exercise programme shown in a semi class situation; warts and all.The instructor is obviously well trained and experienced and her two class members - because that is obviously what they are - not trained instructors - show different stages of experience. Where necessary and when she spots it, Nancy corrects moves and positioning just as we do in class. In fact because of her obvious knowledge and the type of moves and exercises, I seriously wondered whether she had been trained by the organisation I belong to:,The Fitness League, but as her classes seem to be based in France I don't think she can be.Yes, OK, the music is not what I might have chosen but that should not detract from the well thought out exercises - just follow what you are shown and you can't go far wrong. I would recommend this series to anyone who is less than fit.

Fitness DVD getting into shape for over 50's
I commenced using this DVD 1 week ago (7 January) 1 hour twice a day. I find this DVD helpful especially if you are over 50 years of age as it is gentle enough to keep up with the programme if you are unfit. There are 3 sections, warm up which is essential to follow before you commence with the 2nd section which is more challenging but keep it up and you can feel the results even after 1 week. If you can't keep up with the exercises do it at your own pace and once you are fit enough to cope then resume with the pace of the DVD. Your muscles will be stiff and sore initially but as I am continuing exercising I feel more supple. The cool down section is also very useful to end the session as it relaxes you and slows down your heart rate. I am happy with the DVD and will continue to use it until I reach a good level of fitness and may then use a more vigorous exercise routine.

worth buying
I like this dvd and it is the first one in a long time that I've seen you can just work at all the way through. I wanted something to stretch my muscles to become more agile, especially as you get older you start to stiffen up and break down!! LOL!There is a voice over which is fine, other reviews have stated it gets on their nerves but it's not so bad, the music is a bit 'samey' but, again it's ok.I regularly walk in order to keep fit but the exercies in this dvd help with the problem areas which as we all now (for most women) it's the stomach, legs/thighs. If you're like me then I would recommend this but if you are more agile/fitter then it might not be for you. Great service as usual from Amazon and received this within two days. Enjoy!

Fitness?????
I am 51 and have alwys tried to keep in shape. After a break in exercising following a recent health scare, and the fact that I now also have osteoarthritis in both of my knees I decided to start again at a more gental pace. However this video is so "gental" it gave me absolutely no kind of benefit at all. I found it far too easy and slow. I get more exercise doing housework! I will NOT be buying any more of this series.....

This is excellent for its intended audience
This is excellent for its intended audience ... over 50s who are in need of a bit more exercise. If that sounds like you, then this is the DVD for you. The exercises start off gently and very gradually build up in intensity, but never go beyond what is possible or likely for a 50-year old.Although it's aimed at women there is no reason why a man shouldn't follow the program and benefit from it. I did and I did.

boring
the background music irritated me beyond belief; a sort of residual "rap" noise; movements were repetitive and it was a voice-over which was ok but nothing especially useful. Also the lead actor/instructor was sweating profusely which I found rather distracting. cannot honestly recommend this. there are better out there. i am 67 with lots of musculo-spinal maladies but that was not really the problem
