Under a Sardinian Sky

A Riveting Read
This book is about love and the sacrifices one makes in its pursuit, triangular relationships, and one woman's desire for freedom of choice vying with the traditional conservative family values. In Sardinia, the role of women and men is clearly defined as is their future.Through Carmela's eyes, we are introduced to Sardinia's food, customs and physical attributes. The descriptions ooze with sensuality, whether Carmela's family farm or the rest of the island. Having been to Sardinia, I found that the backgrounder was authentic in its details. The plot is superbly handled with many surprises along the way. I loved the book.

Wonderful story !
I loved this story, from the first to the last page, it had me hooked. The story at first tells of a young betrothed girl, her life, work & of those around her. It goes into detail Sardinian food & preparation of it, all th while weaving a magical story of love & expectations. You don’t expect the end !Read it & enjoy.

Nice beach/pool read.
Not my normal read. I haven’t finished it yet but it has kept my interest. There are plenty of big scenes (festivals, feasts and days out to the beach) to capture your imagination. If you are heading to the Mediterranean next summer then this will get you nicely warmed up. Otherwise take it with you to read by the poolside.

Sardinia the island of many faces
I have visited Sardinia twice and the book took me back to those wonderful times. The food, the cooking ,the people they were all real and the descriptions of the various parts of the island invoked many memories. I couldn't wait to read the next chapter ,it kept me intrigued.

evocative
This was well written, but unconvincing. Spending most of her life in a distant land and not even writing did not resonate with the person she was.Whilst her fluctuating feelings and reversals were realistic they just went on and on. Some tighter editing was needed.

Fabulous
Such a sad & heart searching story of love &hate It shows that first love & true love are so different.Always take a chance of opportunity if offered even if it fails ! ,but this story promises a lot of surprises .a good holiday read ,loved it

Disappointed
Found it incredibly long-winded especially the first half of the book. There appeared to be constant vivid detail about the food and cooking.A trifle boring for me, hence took a long time to read.
