Heavy Duty and Safe
I come from a technical and industrial electronics/IT background and have seen and used many of this type of product in action. I purchase these exclusively in various configurations, as they are bulletproof. A metal case is essential so if the internal MOV circuitry activates from a surge, the (possible) ignition source is contained inside the metal body. MOV components are used in the protection circuitry to stop excess voltage (from a surge) flowing to the items connected to the plug strip. Plastic (especially cheap plastic enclosures) are prone to ignition and are a fire hazard. I know of several examples of catastrophic fires triggered by burning plug strips. Do the research yourself and only install metal-enclosed plug strips. Tripp Lite products are on the whole are the best for this use case. The only thing that could be improved would be to add some rubber pads or feet to the bottom, as they are prone to slide around (and possibly scratch) a desktop. If wall mounted, this is not a problem.

Worked good!
Needed a small yet heavy duty power strip with switch for a power supply on the test bench. Ended up drilling a hole on each flange to easily mount. Turned out quite nicely.

Well built, made of actual metal.
These, and the other metal power strips made by Tripp-Lite/SLWaber are the only ones I buy. First, the enclosure is made of metal, which, unlike plastic, does not burn when heated by an electrical overload. The cord and plug furnished with the power strip is robust, heavy, and the plug features nice solid prongs for a secure fit into the wall receptacle. The cord is also nice and long. The outlets on the power strip are individual snap-in receptacles, rather than a chintzy brass strip running the length of the cheaper power strips. Put simply, these types of power strips are all I buy. Most plastic power strips are a fire waiting to happen as far as I'm concerned. These are about as solid and safe as you can get. They may be a premium cost, but they are a premium power strip.

Best Power Strip
I highly recommend this power strip for you work or home shop! This Industrial shop and this power strip is the best. It has a tough metal body with permanent mounting points protected reset switch, and 5 plug slots AND a 15 FOOT CORD! I use 2 inch velcro so I can move and mount were ever I need to be and still make sure that I'm safe and stable. Ive plugged in a grinder, shop light and a fan without overloading the unit. I have read theat the 10 cell has had problems but I have used these for years and I never have had an issue. Mayby that is why the Gov. facility were I work orders them.

Better Sound Quality Than Surge Protectors in Same Price Range
This review mostly concerns the sound quality of this 5-outlet power distributor.. When I plugged in my 1991 portable Panasonic CD player, the SL-NP1A, paired with the unfortunately discontinued Audio-Technica ATH-T200 headphones(see my review) into this excellent power strip set on top of two blue Penn racquetballs, the soundstage increased in all 3 dimensions, the unique tonal colors of each individual instrument became more vivid, dynamic contrast became more dramatic, the bass, midrange, & treble were substantially enhanced, & the pace, rhythm, & timing caused me to drum on my computer desk & tap my feet. This was a definite sonic upgrade over my 2007 12-outlet Belkin plastic strip I still use for my PC setup. However, the previously mentioned audio attributes improved even further when I disconnected the Waber outlet strip & instead plugged the CD player into the wall using a simpler & cheaper 3 to 2 prong adapter. The glare & slightly gritty treble disappeared when plugging into the wall outlet & bypassing the power strip, as though a window had just been cleaned with Windex applied with a newspaper. Although I plan to repurpose enthusiastically this Waber strip into my stereo setup with speakers, it's probably helpful to consider this product's proposition that one is exposing his/her audio equipment to possible damage from power surges/spikes to obtain a substantial sound quality boost about midway between typical line noise causing & power current limiting surge protectors & power conditioners such as my plastic Belkin PC strip & Belkin Pure AV conditioner with a constrained sound & the superior sound quality of plugging each audio component directly into the wall. Well-engineered, more expensive power conditioners such as Shunyata, which I've listened to but cannot afford, sound even better than wall outlets though. This power distributor has a built-in circuit breaker, so one's audio equipment is *probably* safer plugged into the Waber than into a wall outlet. Overall, this reliable(owned for about one year), well-built, & heavy power distributor is both a fantastic value & one of the best currently available audiophile bargains 1/5 the price of Pangea's similar 4 outlet base model(two rows by two outlets oriented 45 degrees differently) & less than 1/3 the original retail price of the currently unavailable 10-outlet PS Audio Juice Bar II when 2 Waber 5-outlet distributors are purchased. Interestingly, based on various photos, there seem to be 3 different iterations of this same model, with one rendition having more space between outlets than the one I own. Last but not least, the Waber's metal construction seems safer than the plastic long standard in most outlet strips, & this audiophile greatly appreciates this 5-outlet strip's lack of an external manual switch & lights. I highly recommend this product with the caveat it's a good idea to unplug it after each listening/viewing(have not tested this with video yet) session because of its lack of conventional surge protection.

Heavy Duty Power Strip With Protected Shut Off
Exactly what I wanted. A heavy duty power strip with a protected shut off for critical electronic equipment that occasionally needs to be powered off. Very well built and heavy duty metal construction.

Plugged into 20A dedicated receptacle connecting LG fridge & freezer units rated at 2.0 & 2.1 Amps (lower than expected). Probably overkill, but safe, and better than other options using 16 gauge wire. The "power on" light is reassuring at a glance. Wouldn't consider using a cheap plastic power bar in this application. This item is suitable for power hungry appliances ie. A/C units & microwaves provided you don't exceed 80% of circuit rating (Canada) as mentioned by another reviewer.

Fantastic. I use this for my coffee station. I swap out using the kettle & microwave, as needed. I have LED lights & my coffee grinder plugged in all the time.
