Great Servos
I buy more servos than the average person as I build a lot of vehicles, I think around 80 so far this year, so I really can't pay £20+ each for them. I saw these for sale at a great price and thought I'd give them a try. To be honest I wasn't expecting very much from them at around £5 each and thought they'd be poorly made, noisy, slow, glitchy and weak but I am very surprised and really pleased. So far they have performed extremely well, I've put them into various cars, buggies and trucks to put them through their paces and they've performed exactly the same as top brands servos costing 8 to 10 times the price. They are possibly a little noisier than some but for cars that are going to be travelling fairly quickly across concrete, gravel, tarmac, etc. it really doesn't matter as the tyre and drivetrain noise is much louder than any servo. This will improve a little over time too as the internal gears "run in". I did pop the lid off a couple to check if they were greased properly and they were. I always do this when testing new mechanics. The internals look to be very well made too and they do actually have metal ball race bearings. They look and feel equal to top brands servos. The quoted speed is not as fast as some but I challenge anybody running a car or buggy to prove they notice the difference between a 0.11 second and a 0.18 second servo. These are quoted as 1.8 seconds for 60° at 4.8V and 0.15 seconds at 6V but unless connected to a sensitive test rig it is impossible for anybody to notice 3/100 of a second difference and for hobby users bashing around a gravel pit or tournament users driving around a precision circuit it's going to make no difference at all. They are quoted as 13Kg stall torque at 6V and I've no reason to doubt that especially as the whole mechanism is brass. They certainly seem strong and powerful. Having only had them 3 weeks I'm unable to comment on the durability of these servos but again, judging by the build quality and internals, I've no reason to think they won't last a very long time if treated correctly.I've had little to no glitching at all from these servos but I only run electric vehicles now. Glow and petrol engine vehicles are more prone to glitching but I'm unable to comment on this.OveralI I'm very pleased with these servos in both looks and performance and they really are very cheap. Fingers crossed on durability. Conclusion? I love these servos.
