Gift. It would be helpful to have a book with instructions on different ways to finish the project.

I’ve been wanting this one for a while and ordered it when the price went down. I love this design! There are a few things that really annoyed me though. Biggest thing, I had to replace the first one. The piece you put on the back of it to hang it has nails in both sides and it’s scratching the boards up. First one was really bad and noticeable. The replacement has a couple scratches but I think the thread will cover them. I hope. I’d recommend either taping the bag with the tools in it to the inside of the lid or put some bubble wrap around the nails in the hanger so it’s not scratching the boards. Another thing that bothers me is the thread. The yellow is more of a darker gold, the dark/burnt orange is a maroon. The blue is pretty, like a turquoise color, but it’s not exactly matching the color showing. The colors in the picture complement each other and make it appealing to the eye. Frankly, the thread I received clashes and I think it’ll look bad. So, I’m going to the store to pick up some pretty yellow, a different turquoise color, and either a burnt orange or a dark coral that complement each other. Frustrating that I have to do this and pay extra for thread because the thread colors are not correct. My buddy has one and his thread is spot on, matching the photo. The last thing that’s really annoying is the page they send with the instructions. You cannot read the numbers on the thing. The directions go by numbers, but the picture that has the numbers on it is too small. The numbers are dark on a dark background, and the picture is pixelated and blurry so they’re almost impossible to see either way. Honestly, if I didn’t like the design so much, I would have sent it back for a return instead of a replacement.

This particular project did not have detailed directions to chart or follow.

The numbers on the instructions were so blurred that even with reading glasses and a magnifying glass they weren't too clear. However, once I sorted those out, I completed a beautiful piece of art.

LOL! The instructions are illegible.It is impossible to see the "nail positioning" to follow instructions....I took a closeup photo to try to make it out and it is completely illegible. I already put in all the nails so how on earth do I return it now? It also had a lot of scratches on the black background. Sadly this product leaves a lot to be desired. I was so excited too. I waited forever to buy it...argh...
