I haven't used it on any rough edges. I do have one pair that I have not polished yet. I doubt that it will work that great on those.

Power is enough for shoe brushing. Too much power will produce huge friction and heat, which may damage the leather surface.

Q: Will it remove the mud off the shoes?

This is a very low speed device. I do not recommend it for removing mud.

Q: Is it soft/gentle enough to be used on a person?
