Got this for a project, not a replacement. I wanted a keypad/finger print reader to allow access past a sliding door. I did not even need the mechanical bolt turn, I am only using the solenoid as a pin lock.The unit works as described. I can say that programming was not quite as straight forward as I had hoped. But much of that was my own problem following directions.My use required a lot of modification on my part (building a box, extending wires, installing a rechargeable battery pack...etc.). And it is working as it should. I do wish the solenoid was a little more substantial. And programming was not quite as challenging. But the end result is that it works.

Just what I was looking for. This has a lot of components that I can customize into my project.

This item only includes the locking mechanism, not the box itself. Maybe I didn't look hard enough at the product page, but based on the pictures included I was under the impression I was getting the entire safe.

The media could not be loaded. I'm afraid I grossly misunderstood what this product is meant for before I ordered it. My purpose for ordering it was to install it on a steel door of a closet that I meant to use for gun storage. The product came in a box that was in pretty rough shape and I am not entirely sure that all of the pieces were included. I went back to the listing to see if I could figure it out and I can't find anything pictured in the listing that was not included in my package. There is not, for example, a nut that fits on the back of the knob to hold it in place. The conclusion that I have come to is that this product is simply meant to be a replacement mechanism on an existing lock box and so some of the parts could be used from the old one. It says in the title of the listing that it "fits FPN electronic safe box". I did see that before I ordered it but I assumed that it could also be adapted for other purposes. I may still try to adapt it, but it will be more difficult than I had anticipated.Another thing that I misunderstood by not reading the listing carefully enough is the material that it is made of. It appeared to me to be made of metal but in fact it is made of plastic. I do not know whether or not that makes it less secure on the lock box it belongs on, but if I were to adapt it to something else, it seems that it would be easy to break and access the internal parts which would compromise it's security. I may be able to mitigate this problem by running the wires through a small hole in the steel door and having the mechanical release behind the door.The "instruction manual" is simply one sheet of paper and says nothing about assembling the product, only about programming it. The electrical connections were easy enough to figure out because there were only three of them and they were all different. After I had connected those and put in batteries everything worked very well as it was supposed to. Both the fingerprint reader and the keypad worked well. If this is something that you need to replace an identical unit in an existing lock box, then this will probably work for you. Otherwise make sure you know what you are getting before ordering it.To help understand how I rate items:My philosophy is, that for a rating system to be effective, the highest rating and the lowest rating should be reserved for a relatively small percentage of the best and the worst products. If I give a product four stars, it is because I believe it is a very good product. To get five stars from me requires a product to go above and beyond and really impress me beyond my expectations. By the same token, a product has to be VERY, VERY bad to get only one star from me. One thing that I DON'T take into consideration with my ratings is price. I may make a general statement such as “this is a good value” but it will not affect my star rating. The reason is that product prices change, even from day-to-day. Also what one person may consider a good price someone else might not. I feel it is more important to review the quality and features of a product and let the buyer decide whether the current price is worth it to them. Another thing that I don't take into consideration are issues with shipping. This is because the seller does not always have control over that. Following is each of the five categories of *stars* and how I assign them to a product:***** Five stars - The product exceeded my expectations. I really love it and would actively suggest it to friends and would certainly purchase it again if needed.**** Four stars - The product met my expectations. It does what it claims to do. I like it and would recommend it to someone if they asked about it. I would Most likely purchase it again if needed .*** Three stars - The product is average and for the most part does what it claims. There may be a few things I don't like about it. If I recommended it to someone, I would state my reservations. I may purchase it again if I could not find a better alternative.** Two stars - The product fell far short of my expectations. It may, in some respects, do what it claims to do but has far too many problems to overlook. I would never recommended it to someone nor would I ever purchase it again. There is a good possibility I would return it.* One star - The product is terrible. It has way too many cons and few if any pros. I would actively warn my friends away from it and would most likely return it if possible.

Came in a beat up box. Pieces all over and not packaged well. Did come with instructions. Hoping all pieces are here and works okay! Cool idea.
