More Creative Interventions for Troubled Children and Youth

This book is invaluable for work with angry kiddos!
I was really pleased with how Lowenstein expanded the resources from her first book, "Creative Interventions for Troubled Children and Youth" to include more focused interventions that target anger management and poor self-esteem. The Anger Workbook in chapter three offers a super user-friendly way to tease apart the facets of anger (triggers, corresponding thoughts, behaviors and impact on self and others). I have had much success using this tool with elementary-age children and in partnership with teachers and counselors at schools. Really love this book!!

Not Wanting To Part With This One Anytime Soon!
Very good resource book I found informative while pursuing my degree in occupational therapy, and still a fine book I have returned to since as I find it highly useful in my current job within a school setting. Certainly not a dust catcher and one I would recommend!

Lots of great ideas
This book has been a lot of help! Most of the interventions are simple and require simply making copies, while other require more forethought and planning, like purchasing special games or props (a specific board game, poker chips, prizes, specific toys, etc.). In any case, this book has been a lot of help and the kids have loved the interventions I have tried. More importantly, I was able to get to know my clients better and find out important things I probably would not have found out otherwise. I highly recommend this book for beginner therapists, therapists w/ limited experience working w/ children, and/or anyone who wants to learn a few interesting interventions.

Great resource for therapists, social workers, etc.
This is well written and very helpful. The activities are not only easy to manage, but lead me to think of other ideas on my own. Thanks a lot! I look forward to using more books by this author.

one of my favorite resources!
I use the activities in this book (and her first "creative interventions" book) with almost all of my young clients, at one time or another. These two books (and her divorce and bereavement books) are always on hand, dog-eared, marked and ready for use. They are very practical, effective, easy to use, and most of all, fun! Other books I recommend from this author are:Creative Interventions for Troubled children and youthCreative Interventions for Children of DivorceCreative Interventions for Bereaved Childrenand (edited by Ms. Lowenstein):Assessment and Treatment Activities for Children, Adolescents, and Families, Volumes 1 and 2

Buy 1 of the 3 titles but not all 3 they repeat
Great therapy games however the author has 3 similar books. I bought all 3 thinking I would get 3 times the content. Not so... Basically same content in each book

Valuable Resource
Creative Interventions for Troubled Children and Youth is a valuable resource for clinicians! As a clinician working with children (elementary through high school age), I am able to use Ms. Lowenstein's book to come up with group and individual activities that are meaningful and fun for children. I look forward to acquiring all of Ms. Lowenstein's books!

Wonderful tool for Play Therapists
This book is an easy to use guide for play therapists. It tells what age groups the acitivity is targeted for and the type of activity (assessment, feelings, anger, social skills, and self esteem). This book has been a great resource to interact with kids and get them to have fun while learning at the same time.
