These little speakers honestly surprised me regardless of their price. Let's be real, the name is hilarious, but it's what made me click on them in the first place. As a GEY GUY myself, I just couldn't resist the buy now button. That silliness aside, I rarely write reviews but found myself driving 40 minutes home from work excited to listen to them again today, so I decided to share my thoughts. The regular price is just fine for what you're getting but on sale (just bought them for 55$ !!!) they're an outright steal. I'm on day two of having these and this covers around 10 hours of actual listening and about ten hours of overnight break-in (yes, these need to break in, the bass warmed up drastically and is much quicker and more effortless). Higher Love by Steve Winwood clearly demonstrated the difference on day two both in the bass and kick drums but also up in the rim taps and lower acoustic guitar string plucks which you can clearly and easily distinguish; like I said, surprising. I have probably 20 sets of bookshelf speakers (Wharfedale 220, JBL Studio 530, Jamo C93ii, as a couple examples of my favorites) and love switching them out and listening back-to-back to compare sound and details. I know this is practically blasphemy in the budget audiophile world to say (shoutout to Z Reviews on Amazon, definitely go watch and follow) but I think these are better than the Micca RB42 all around. How they figured out a three-way crossover at this price with such good capability is astounding. I think these are equally as fun as the RB42 (which are I own and are genuinely fantastic) but they aren't missing the beautiful mids as the Micca does. They have 90% of the bass, and it's far more authentic, and treble is matched, but the added mid-range driver just lights up the sound. These are very interesting sounding, honest and natural, and I highly suggest them as a first pair of audiophile budget speakers if you're just getting started. If you're an amp and speaker hoarder as I am these must be in your collection. These are on par with the Sony SS-CS5 (which I also own and are phenomenal) in terms of bang-for-buck factor (this includes box quality and build quality) and lively/fun sound. The best part of these is that there is no listening fatigue no matter how high you turn them up (within reason) so you can listen for hours without any ear ringing or loss of detail sensitivity. At first you think to yourself that there is not enough bass until you keep listening and just realize that the balance of highs, mids and lows is so well done it's just not something one is used to hearing in a 2-way bookshelf. With the 2-way design often the bass driver tries to handle too much of the low mids and it gets muddy, and tweeter tries to pick up the upper half and it's harsh and sharp when turned up loud. With this GEYGUY set, the bass driver only handles bass for the most part, so it's freed up to blend in better and only play what it was designed to play. The bass is legitimately deep and neutral and full, which is amazing for such a small and affordable speaker. I was easily getting 35-45 Hz peaks when I used an audio analyzer. Songs like Psycho by Post Malone or Love on Top by Beyonce easily pounded out the low notes in great balance. It's also fairly quick bass due to the basic (light) paper woofer cone. These are performers right up to about 85 dB at which time their tiny size starts to show, and the sound falls apart. Most people do not listen to music this loud though. This is the first set of bookshelves that I've purchased with a 3-way design and it's not going to be the last based on what I'm hearing. The extra oomph in the mid-range (which is where all vocals and half of an orchestra's instruments perform) is wonderful to hear; voices step out in front of the music and instruments like French horns or trumpets sound absolutely clear and lively. When Witness, by Sarah McLauchlin, started I smiled ear to ear. Her voice had so much character and depth. Santorini (live/remastered) by Yanni was really fun: great imaging and stage presence, none of the instruments came out sibilant or too sharp, and again, the trumpets and euphonium were so crisp and mellow. I've now put them on a couple of different amps that I have, and they do go pretty well with all of them, even the Nobsound 33$ class D amp (here on Amazon). That said, they scaled very well. Aim for at least a solid 50 watts per channel to get the best out of them. The better the equipment I drove them with, the better the performed. In particular, they came alive when I threw a 40$ (again, here on Amazon) tube pre-amp on to my Parasound 275. That warm smokey sound from the second-order harmonics (audiophile geek term, ignore if needed) that the tubes produce is even more obvious in these because it's three different drivers and the harmonics blend really well, almost like the difference between a piano in person vs a piano played through speakers. Again, another ignorable detail but important to speaker people, the mid and full range driver, I believe, share the same open baffle inside the box so both the bass and mids come out of the "bass port" on the back. Because of this there is a noticeable difference when the sound is bouncing off the untreated wall or absorbed by drapes or something behind them like audio foam squares. Both sound great, but one is much more directional and focused and the other is more ambient and reverberating. So, to finish this novel: they are not perfect and honestly not the best-looking speakers but no more could be reasonably expected from a speaker of this price. I say give them a shot; they'll impress you too. All of the money was spent exactly where is should have been. If anything, these are just this side of an engineering triumph due to how precisely and efficiently the engineers must have been to get them out the door under 100$. Box quality is pretty good, and all the screws and joints are much better than they need to be. Thanks for reading.

I bought these for my Imperial Dabman i560CD player, which has a "2x30 W" output (likely RMS), for 4-16 ohm impedance speakers. Reading on the internet and trying to figure out what speakers to buy drove me half-crazy. There appears to be a consensus for speakers with roughly matching wattage: Amps are to produce "75% and 150% of the speakers' RMS power rating". However, many speaker models only advertise inflated "max" or "peak" wattage info (corresponding to 2x and 4x RMS, it seems), or do not specify things at all. User reviews are nice but tend to reflect the ear of the beholder... What I like about this pair is (1) clear specs (4 ohm, 50-80 W RMS), (2) three speakers, and (3) thick wooden housing. I also found connecting the wires is very convenient, and I appreciate the bottom pads (protection from moist soils). And, yes, they produce good sound.
