Foam works well for the insulating/sound deadening however the adhesive is pretty weak. Plan on getting a can or two of spray adhesive for your project if you want it to stay put.

Excellent. The self adhesive is great. You can even cut to fit small pieces and they will stick. I don't know about long term, but I'll know in about a year

My order came in a folded manner wrapped tightly in protective plastic. I would have preferred a roll type shipment. I point this out because at every corner fold on the square, the adhesive protective paper has pulled away so it wasn't a flat piece. I think a rolled piece would have eliminated this. Maybe the larger pieces come in rolls. It just made the application process a little more difficult as I had to use clamps the remove the 'high and low' spots where the folds had been. Still happy with the product.

I bought this product to provide heat insulation between my trunk and the engine compartment of my car. I purchased two 40” x 40” pads. The product is as advertised, foil covering over compressed closed cell foam with adhesive. My issue is the stability of the foam and its longevity. It isn’t very thick, which is listed in the description (197 mil) but it does not recover thickness well when compressed. It’s almost like foam rubber that has deteriorated from age. The other issue is that, if it sticks to your fingers, or any surface, while handling, the foam delaminates and comes apart if you try to remove it. This is not a good sign that it will hold up in the long term. As I’m using it for heat insulation, I’m assuming that the continued exposure to engine heat will cause the foam to break down even further. As my Dad used to say, “I’m not going to get my hopes up”.
