WIND IN THE WILLOWS, THE - THE MOVIE: D [DVD]

Nothing wrong with the bargain - a good print at a good price. However, it turned out not to my taste. I had been attracted by a life-long devotion to the original, by good reports, and the names of those old actors, but for me it failed to capture anything of what I loved. The animals seemed grotesque and unattractive, their dialogue emasculated, the plots unrecognisable. My fault I suppose for having expected the impossible.

Good story for 2-9yr

I had this on VHS for my kids about 30 years ago. Now on DVD for my grandson and as good as ever.The picture quality is a bit less than we are now used to, but you soon get used to it and it doesn't spoil the enjoyment to any great extent.One reviewer said his was black and white - not mine - AND mine is widescreen.Would have been 5 stars, but for the slight graininess of the picture.

This is the original film. Very well thought out and really lovingly restored from the original. This is 36 years old but is worth every penny. The sets are beautiful as is the whole film. Mine was in colour and I played it on my computer tower through a set of gaming headphones I bought some months back. If you remember Wind In The Willows, this is the original movie or film. I think it is superb. The animation is absolutely brilliant given that its 36 years old. Lovely to watch. Some parts of it are really funny but overall the film is brilliant. Excellent production. A bit fuzzy even the digitally remastered version but charming. Young uns perhaps looking for Pixar quality will think it outdated but very young probably won’t question it.Lovely portrayal of characters and 1 hr 15 right length for 6 and 4 yrs. Had considered the Matt Lucas version but hard to get hold of and on reflection think young children relate better to “real” animals rather than dressed up humans.

Bought for my son

Loved it. It is one of my favourite books, certainly the favourite of my childhood. I enjoyed the film immensley it was slightly blurred in places but it was made a long time ago. I got it for my grandson and will get him the book later, or he can have my copy, but the DVD is for him only. Glad I bought it.
