Initially very disappointing but with a little adaptation its grown on me.
Having read in some reviews that the fins at the top of the plunger are rather rigid, I did try shoving two fingers in and sure enough it was uncomfortable withdrawing them. The only way it was anywhere near comfy was by inserting my thumb alone, somewhat like Little Jack Horner.Still, I was willing to give Paw Plunger the benefit of the doubt and came the mucky weather, I'd prepared by getting a little suit for my Cavachon to limit how mucky she might get.I pushed a paw in but found I could neither move the plunger up and down, nor use a dipping action with the paw as the plastic fins were just too firm.Maybe with a sturdier dog this is easier but it felt like her leg was stuck and both the dog and I began to panic.I did manage to release the paw but decided we can't go through that worry each time so i sharpened a knife and have cut the plastic fin thing off entirely.I realise it was to help in squeezing surplus water from the paw and to prevent spillage, used with the lid, in transport. The brushes clean gently. I bought some inexpensive flannels to use for paw drying and I shall be happier just plunging and hand squeezing off the excess water then using the flannel for drying.Good idea but my dog's paws/legs arent perfectly rounded.I think the design should be reconsidered to use a soft rubber or silicone. The current one is far too stiff. In the circumstances I'm not best happy at how much this cost, either! After some pretty wet weather and hence muddy conditions I am using the Paw Plunger on a daily basis. I do not regret cutting off the fins and am just gently squeezing excess water from Tilly's paws.On a daily basis I just fill and empty from the top. I do unscrew the top occasionally to give the brushes and interior a good clean. Mud lurks down there. I would advise rubbing some petroleum jelly on the scew top though to prevent cross threading and make the inner easier to screw out.I do really like the concept just not, wholly, the execution.

Good device for cleaning muddy paws...hilarity ensues...and mess too!
I think this is going to take some getting used to for y dog (and me!).It's a great concept. Well designed. Well made. But my dog growled at it as I took it out of the box (he doesn't normally growl)! So I had to do a lot of training with treats just to use it the first time.It cleaned well and I am happy with it.I used it on my kitchen floor (ceramic tiles) and it did make a hug mess, but I was prepared with towels.I've since put up a galvanised loop with karabiner outside the front door and when we come back from muddy walks I will tie him up there and get the warm water and Paw Plunger ready...with towels...and then do the washing outside, which will be much more manageable! The paws came out pretty clean, though of course sopping wet.In future, if I'm at all worried about the Alabama Rot disease I might add 1 or 2 drops of teatree oil to the plunger.I've also bought some "I Love Pet Head" Oatmeal Paw Butter, which I will be using in future as well (haven't used it yet) as I notice that my dog's paws are a little cracked (nothing to do with the Plunger thought). The medium size was suitable for our cocker spaniel adult dog.I would recommend you get a different colour than black if your dog is one of those who is unnerved by black things...!

Actually works!
I was very sceptical about this product, but pleasantly surprised...it actually works!! A little bit of a faff with an uncooperative pooch but once the paw inserted and jiggled about it does a pretty good job in removing dirt. Whilst dirt is not entirely removed (I think I need more practice in handling the dog whilst using it) it was a massive improvement from dirty paw marks on the kitchen floor! I bought the MEDIUM size and was expecting an insulated coffee mug type size but it is much larger than I thought it would be, the picture doesn't reflect how big it is.All in all a good product and recommend it.

Great in theory
My dog will surrender her front paws without a problem, maybe because her forelegs are straight. No matter how I try I’ve yet to do both hind legs. She needs to be stood but insists on trying to sit. The plunger is almost impossible to use horizontally and the ‘elbow or knee joint causes the dogs leg to go horizontal. As I said it’s great in theory but I’m back to the hosepipe

Paw Plunger
The concept is good but although I have been able to remove the lid and the immediate inside lid I still haven't figured out how to take the brush section out from the cup completely so as to ensure I can give it a thorough clean out. May have to contact the vendor on this point but if it doesn't come apart completely I will be returning it as I think that is very unhealthy because it cannot be sanitised and thus not good if the dog sustains an injury to their paw and you are using this to clean them after they have been out

Useful but not perfect
Have used it regularly for well over a year. It's very useful but could be improved. The plastic skirting that avoids water spillage has broken and is too stiff around the edges and rubs on the dog's legs. Nevertheless, I recommend it.

wish it was available in a small as it doesn't realy suck the excess water off very well even of my ...
I have seven dogs and only one will let me plunge his feet , they range from staffs to large sharpie ....it is a huge tub for a medium and they are scared of it ...but im going to do some target training and we will use it as it was expensive......wish it was available in a small as it doesn't realy suck the excess water off very well even of my bigfoot boy..maybe its because they have sleek hair ......but id imagine that for hairy feet it would be indespensible if you could actualy get your dog to let you use it on them ......training needed

Large paw plunger
Brilliant love this works a treat on my sandy muddy puppy paws ! very large puppy I might add at 20 weeks and long curly fur . The lid is a bonus and stays attached by the link chain to plunger and handle helps support and steady when gripping plunger if need be. ...I have put my had in and checked brushes and to make sure paw hand is not caught on anything inside and found it to to be all soft bristle brushes ( minuscule version of car wash brushes ) very good product
