Absolutely brilliant budget piece of kit only negative I can give is it didn't come with fixing bolts

The guard is of basic construction & 1/3 of the price of the "Sold Secure" equivalents. I wanted it as a basic deterrent, above the normal garage lock. I've modified mine to be less obvious by spraying it mat black. I's also "wired" into the alarm. Things to bear in mind.....If fitting into a block paving, you will need to ensure the last 2 screw holes of the mounting plate are well in the garage, fixed in a concrete floor. This requires the clamp to be right up against the door.... which means you will have to cut a slot in the door to accommodate as it swings open. Positioning further away (as others have commented) exposes the bolts, & looks untidy! You will need to buy a descent Disc lock. These are pricey & some are appallingly insecure (anything under £20)!It works well, with some fitting modification, & is intended to slow a thief down. In an unlit area away from the house, with no home CCTV, I would probably go for the more expensive versions, but the same fitting issues may still be true.Arrived very quickly. Can anyone tell me why Amazon turns my pictures around?????

Doesn't come with fixings so that could be another expense plus you'll need the correct size masonry drill bit. Thankfully I had everything required. M6 rawlbolts and I think 12mn bit. Also note if the slope up to your garage isn't flat you may need to bend the baseplate for a flush finish. Quite tricky but doable. Also note you'll need clearance under shut door to slip baseplate under and if you're using rawlbolts then the clearance will need to be substantial to take account of the bolt heads. I used rawlbolts for all but the two under door where I used a flush screw and plug. Can't get to it to unscrew anyway as its under door so no real issue. Also - don't fit it in centre or you'll trip over the baseplate everytime you enter garage. All in all I can sleep safer at night knowing my garage is more secure than most, but not infallible - my only concern is that as I've installed one at each side then it looks like I've got something worthwhile to steal perhaps rendering me a target. Can't win.

To secure a floor level lock to my garage door.

WARNING – STOP before you buy: I purchased this device on the understanding that the padlock lug was positioned vertically aligned such that the padlock hole was across the device. And as such also purchased the recommended Master Disc padlock to secure it. HOWEVER, whilst the box the device came in and the fitting instructions both showed the padlock lug fitted in the vertical, the dam device came with the padlock lug fitted in the horizontal, thus the disc padlock cannot be used. Only a standard padlock will fit. I emailed the manufacturer and whilst their auto reply email said that they would reply within one working day, they never replied even despite my emailing again. Thus given the time frame I had to fit this device, I was forced to have to use a normal padlock :(Further, the instructions say to fit the base plate with the securing holes furthest from the lug placed towards the garage door. But the lug is fitted centrally so both sets of holes are equal distant from the lug, making the instruction pointless. The weld around the lug was not fully completed and it left a small hole in the weld that would allow water to ingress and cause rust. I had to fill this to prevent water ingress.Because of the central positioning of the padlock lug, it was impossible to fit the ground plate so that it just tucked under the garage door, so it had to be fitted much further back so that the door did not foul the lug but then the device is some 10cm from the door!!! and the rear screws are permanently exposed.So… DO NOT buy this if you want to use a disc padlock because it will NOT fit. And if you do buy this, don’t buy a disc padlock!!! or if you want device that fits closer to the door and covers all fixing screws. I could have made one better designed myself!!!

Have just finished bolting the base-plate into the concrete floor of my garage. Trying to get six holes to line up with those of the base-plate kept me busy for a few hours, and I do this kind of thing for a living!Then the device simply fits over the top of this plate, with the "eye" for the locking device protruding through the slot, and this is where you need to be careful. In their "frequently bought together" box lower down on the page it is suggested that you buy a 60mm Heavy-Warehouse-Container-Garage-Shutter-Padlock to go with it. Be sure that you do NOT buy this lock or anything of a similar design as it will will prove impossible to use on this device, there is simply not enough space to slide the shackle through the eye.It is however, designed to be used with a disc type lock, ideally one of 70mm diameter, and this is the type of lock to buy to secure it.

A good simple and effective product. Do not buy the suggested 'Rawl Bolt' as the Hex Head on the bolt sits 'proud' of the countersink on the lock plate. Suggest use a 5x60mm screw & plug instead.

Produit de bonne facture et assez abordable en comparaison avec les autres dispositifs proposés .il a fallut que je burine au préalable avant d'installer le socle à fixer au sol, pour éviter que le porte ne vienne buter sur l'anse. J'ai utilise des vis torx de 80 mm par 8, et en finition. J'ai pris du ciment prompt liquide que j'ai versé sous le socle pour récupérer les imperfections générées par le burinage. Une petite astuce, j'ai orienté l'ouverture du cadenas vers le bas. Il faut prévoir de rajouter un système de blocage avec un verrou cadenas en point haut et un détecteur de mouvement couple avec une alarme dans l'idéal.
