I was looking for a new board game that was neither too complicated or overly simple to play with my partner, and this totally fitted the bill. I felt interested as soon as I saw it here on Amazon and after seeing the many positive reviews I purchased it and have to say we have thoroughly enjoyed playing it. Obviously the first time playing meant having to keep reading the rules regarding certain squares on the board, but it is very easy to learn and by the time we were on our 3rd game the rules weren't needed at all. The 'Race Cards' are very handy for a quick rule reference anyway, which also show the cost in carrots of movement on the board. Each player receives one during play.The game comes in a lovely big box, perhaps too big for the actual contents, and the board itself is nicely made and the playing tokens are more than adequate. We play it together in 2 player mode which is great fun, the fact you have to use 2 playing tokens each doesn't put us off at all, and we have also played it with the 2 of us in normal mode with one playing token each, and enjoyed that too. There is enough strategy involved to keep you interested and it's fun earning all the 'carrots' needed for your race. I highly recommend this game, there's lots of fun to be had, I bet it's even better with 4 players.

This is a fantastic game, all about strategy and thinking ahead. When we first opened the box and read the instructions the game seemed a bit complicated, however it actually makes a lot of sense once you start playing it and we got the hang of it quickly. The object of the game is to cross the finish line first - you spend carrots to move, and you have to earn carrots through the spaces on the board. However, it isn't as simple as 3 carrots means 3 spaces forward. The number of carrots you need to spend to move increases with each space (e.g. 1 space = 1 carrot, 2 spaces = 3 carrots.....7 spaces = 28 carrots and so on). This means you have to spend wisely, and think about how you move, how you will earn more carrots but also keep an eye on the competition! There are also additional things to consider, for example you start with three cabbage cards and you need to get rid of them before you cross the line, but you can only 'chew' them on a certain space which also involves missing a turn so it's all about strategy and planning. It's an addictive game and can also be frustrating as things can change so quickly - one minute you are winning then the next you might be last! It really is great fun, and I highly recommend this game.

Game okay, not favourite but ok

Well I was looking for a board game to play with my 9 year old twin daughters and came across this one, the description didn't really grab me but it seemed to have some positive reviews, so I thought I'd take a chance on it.One of the reviews I read had criticized the quality of the game pieces and the box, I have to say the game I received was quality wise as good as any other board game I have ever bought, so don't be put off if you read the other review.My daughters loved the game and it was easy to get to grips with, the lack of dice is partly what makes the game, you win or lose based on your decisions and the strategy that you and your other game players use throughout the game.It's an ideal family game and even one that could be played by adults without children.I can see why the German public liked it.

Never before have I come accross a board game where you never know who's winning. Having played many times now it always goes the same way. It all starts amiably as one players shoots off into the distance, throwing caution to the wind. while another sits back, hoarding carrots. The others switch between approaches as it is unclear which strategy is working. While the Hare (Player 1) and the tortoise (Player 2) stare each other down with knowing looks each believing they have the edge. Then when the couters get towards the end everyone starts to get nervous. Carrots are counted, and counted again to make sure then the perfect sequence of moves gets devised to reach the finish with exactly the right number of carrots, not too many, not too few.This game keeps you thinking throughout, doesn't rely on luck and is interesting till the last players cross the finish line. I highly recommend it.

Arrived promptly and although only played once it’s a great game for the family and we can’t wait to play it again! Instructions are easy to follow.

Great game. Unlike many games where you rely on your luck, this one is all about your strategy. You have to carefully think about your next move. Many have fallen victim of rushed decisions and ended up losing. You do not need to be a genius to play it, but it certainly makes your brain work.
