Q: Are these real Uggs or fake?

They are real. In Australia and New Zealand the word "ugg" is a generic term used for a style of utilitarian footwear. In 1978, an Australian moved to California and created "UGG Australia" and made these slippers popular in the US. UGG Australia was eventually purchased by Deckers, also a California based company. An investigation by the Australian Competition & Consumer Commission determined the name UGG Australia was misleading. Therefore, Deckers rebranding the name to simply UGG. If you want a true Australian made ugg style slipper, you need to go to another company, such as Jumbo Ugh or EMU Australia. However, if you want the trademarked UGG that you know, this is it. That is not to say that the quality may not be the same since Deckers took ownership, as they do most of their manufacturing in China. Though my UGG Australia slippers purchased 15 years ago were also made in China and have been one of my best pair of slippers ever.

Q: If I wear a size 9.5 what size should I buy?

I wear a 9.5 in a shoe and got the 9. Had to send it back and get a 10 instead. I wanted them to have a little bit of give on the inside, and also felt I would need the room if I wanted to wear socks. I've been wearing them for 6 months now and am very pleased.
