Great tasting water.
I was sold by this product very early on but hesitated due to reports that filters rates are very slow and that it can stop completely, which then requires faffing with the sponge.Having used it for a week, I can say I am very happy with this filter. The filtered water - it is hard to believe its source is the kitchen tap! It tastes more like spring water - even removing the smell and taste of chlorine. I have had a few makes of water filters and none of them could achieve this.It does filter slower than most ... if not all due to the water having to travel through a dense sponge and then multiple layers of medium. It does slow right down - I put this down to air being trapped in the sponge due to water from the tap hitting the sponge when filling it up. This inevitably forces air into the sponge. What I do (and it has worked every time so far) is to prod the sponge with the handle end of a fork to release any trapped air. Normal flow is then restored.

Good in theory but flawed
Update: After tracking Acala customer services down via their website, I received a very helpful personal email explaining how to eliminate air from the filter along with some tips to maintain efficiency. If the filter slows down as I experience, it needs to be submerged in 6 inches plus of water to remove the air along with the sponge. Once refitted, push all the air out of the sponge with a kitchen spoon or similar. Hey presto, working well again and filtering in 5-10 minutes which I am happy with. Following this contact, I received an automated email with links to videos and tips explaining the same - which was great but a couple of weeks late! Top marks for good customer service and helping me get the filter working. I've upped to 4 stars - and would probably have given 5 without the initial teathing problems and struggles to contact the team - happy to recommend as a high quality water filter, as most importantly, the water tastes great!------------------Similar to a few other reviews, I loved the theory behind this water filter, which sells itself as a step up in quality above simpler Brita type products, which is why I selected it. I like the idea of filtering as much as possible out of my processed London water and trying to make it as natural as possible. I have had the product for a couple of weeks now. For the first few days, everything seemed good. It was taking about 10-15 minutes to filter the water - probably twice as long as other filters, but which is a more than acceptable trade off if it is genuinely going to remove alot more. As the days have passed, the filter had become slower and honestly takes a 4-6+ hours to empty the chamber. Not great on a hot day! The only time I can be sure the water will be completely filtered is when I leave it overnight, which is not acceptable, especially for a premium price at least twice that of other filters. The problem also highlights another design floor. The design makes it impossible to pour when there is water in the top chamber without it leaking everywhere. This means I wait for 2 hours, have enough for a glass or two of water but then when I pour it I get soaked, the water is mixed together and I have to start again. I end up trying to pour as much as possible out of the top chamber sideways, then pouring a glass of filtered water and then refilling to start again. The set up is so simple and it was working originally so I can't see I am doing anything wrong. Maybe it just can't cope with London water.I am trying to contact the seller as I'd really like to keep it and get it working properly, although I am 99% sure it is set up correctly. The contact seller button to contact doesn't do anything, so unless I can find a way in the next few days to speak to them and improve the speed of the filtered water to under 30 mins, I'm afraid I'll be returning for a refund.I'd love to recommend it as more natural water is very desirable, but I'm afraid the slow filter speed and inability to pour with water in the top chamber mean I can't. I will update this review if I find a way to improve.

Excellent product and customer service
I bought this jug in August and have been enjoying superb quality water ever since. It is a great product made of BPA free plastic and filters everything that one can think of. I am very pleased with it and have recommended it to my friends.I am also most impressed with the customer service. The top container broke whilst I was changing the filter. It was most probably my fault for not following the correct technique. I contacted the company in hope that I can just buy a new jug having bought 3 filters recently. They replied very promptly and offered me a replacement free of charge and a DVD with instruction on how to change the filter. I am really, really impressed with the product and the customer service. 10 out of10. Stella Ball

Great Tasting Water
I was torn between buying a distiller and water jug with filter. I did a lot of research online and decided to opt for the acalaquell filter because it remineralises the water and takes some of the pollutants out. So what you get is fresh tasting water. I have to admit it took 1 day to get used to the taste. This is a quality product they include a CD of how to set up the system. The company also sends an email with a downloadable link for a book. I would have given it 5 stars but it is because of the sponge which if you fill water straight from the tap after the 3rd or 4th time traps air bubbles which restricts the flow of water. This is easily curable by squeezing the sponge with the back of a spoon to get rid of the air but you can say at least the sponge is doing it's job. Good product but could be Great if they can either redesign the sponge or the filler section. I am glad to have brought this and l recommend the Acalaquell swing filter. This is not a biased review as l brought it with my own cash.

AcalaQuell Swing
Don't waste your valuable money on this, the filtration is a nightmare. If you don't seat it perfectly the water just pours through unfiltered, if you embed it the water doesn't come through at all. Brita is much more straightforward. I bought this because I thought it would be superior IT IS NOT. Serves me right

This is my first filter ever. The water tastes ...
This is my first filter ever . The water tastes awful . Also the PH remains the same as that of tap water , acidic 5-5.5, no change at all. I do not see any reason that it works when the PH remains same/acidic .

Ottima scelta

Man muss schon etwas herumtüfteln.
