I've never used this style of saw before. I have used it for a little bit now and I quite like it. The saw is sharp and I have been able to control my cut much easier with it than with a western style push saw. At first it felt flimsy but once I used it a bit I realized that it wasn't. I just doesn't need to be as thick and stiff as a push saw. The thinner pull saw allows for a thinner kerf. Over all I'm pleased with this purchase.

If you've never tried a Japanese saw, do yourself a favour. It's a revelation of a magnitude similar to when you switch from a western chef's knife to a Japanese one.
