Marion Hair Dye Shampoo Bag Semi-Permanent Colour 4 to 8 Washes with Aloe and Keratin

I wanted to wait a while before reviewing to make sure there’s longevity of the colour and if it’s truly suitable on Afro textures or if it was better suited to straight/European hair as shown on the packaging. Anyone with experience or knowledge on genuine type 3C to 4C Afro hair textures will know it doesn’t need a 15 step cgm routine with layers upon layers of products and scrunching, plopping, flipping and diffusing just for the ‘curls’ to fall and the hair to revert back to being straight within 24 hours. Afro hair will maintain its natural curl as long as the hairs in good health and isn’t over processed or manipulated and my curls/coils haven’t changed with this compared to using a box dye that loosened up my curl pattern and needed protein treatments to restore it or adore that left my hair crunchy and dry. This Marion shampoo colour feels just like a conditioning agent on my hair, when applied to my damp hair it curls up as if I’d put a conditioner in, I was surprised yet very delighted at this effect considering that the packaging makes no reference to Afro hair as the packaging shows a woman with straight hair. This is officially my new holy grail, it’s a quarter of the price I was paying for my last semi permanent colour that made my hair so dry and stiff, it lasts ten times longer, doesn’t transfer onto fabrics, better value for money and the quality is absolutely superb and the best I’ve used and I’ve been dying my hair since 2009! These colours come out even and don’t have green undertones or stain it like henna dyes and it’s not chemically processing my hair with every application so saves me from damaging my curls/coils! I wish I’d found this product years ago but I’m delighted to have found it now! It’s very difficult to find good quality products that are both affordable and effective on Afro hair as they just aren’t moisturising or thick enough in consistency to coat the curls/coils and Afro targeted products and brands are changing ingredients to suit loose non-Afro hair textures whilst the prices skyrocket going up to ten times more than the cost of one Marion packet, so it’s VERY challenging to find that holy grail when you have a certain hair type but this Marion dye is extremely effective at depositing an even beautiful colour. It has a decent amount of slip to it to easily work through the strands and coat them adequately. Since Afro hair has fewer cuticle layers along strands that protect and seal the cortex of the hair, it can be very prone to damage from even minor hair treatments, the fewer cuticles are great for absorbing water/moisture/colours into the cortex but this leaves the strands open so moisture and colour soaks in wonderfully but exits the hair strands just as easily as it’s absorbed which makes it hard to maintain coloured hair but this product gets the job done and LASTS, it’s not like some dyes that’s very intense either bright or dark at first and you have to let it fade or shampoo lots to look tone it down, Marion dye looks settled from the first application and maintains the look, even with sulphate shampoo and heat styling my hair! It’s hardly faded and I only left the product in for 25-30 minutes compared to the recommended 45 minutes. I’ve recommended this to all my friends and family that colour their hair and I don’t ever plan on switching to another colour brand now I’ve found that holy grail that’s super affordable and the quality is unmatched and for such a low price with one packet being enough to coat my bra strap length curly hair that’s a super bargain!

Very strong colour. I have strawberry blonde hair that needed a boost. I only use half a sachet on my short hair and leave it on for just a minute. Gives me the result I want.

Since I wrote below the company that makes it Marion Cosmetics admitted they can't get it out - I went to hairdresser who tested a strand and it want colour over either. Only bleach would remove the colour at a cost of £170 as it will have to be recovered over the white bleach and possible cause damage to my hair. £170 to correct what this did to my hair!!!! DO NOT PUT THIS STUFF OF YOUR HAIR. It is too unpredictable and there is a high chance you wont get it out. It has ruined my hair - don't touch with a barge pole - get another make of wash out but not this one. You have been warned. I used the nut brown many times so decided to try mahogany. Washed it in and my hair was purple - aubergine purple on the grey roots - so a band right around my head of about an inch as if I put a head band on. Thought OK it will wash out so washed it - no color came off ( usual color comes of if only water so much as gets on it). Tried again nothing. I had a band of aubergine where my grey were all around my hair - felt ashamed walking around as it was plan to see and I could not disgues it - my fringe also have the band. Tried washing again - shampoo still white no color coming of it was like permanent dye. I have since ( for two months at least) - used two boxes or hair dye stripper max strength - did not touch it. Anti-dandruff shampoo - did not touch it. Bicarb - did not touch it - washing up liquid -, did not touch it. It's literally unmovable and I have very long hair so it will take years to grow out. Considering suing as it has ruined my hair and is far from 4- 6 washes - I have regrowth of about an inch and still got a stripe of aubergine - makes me feel disgusting and looks cheap. I try covering it over with nut brow and still the aubergine shows through. Godness knows what it actually is as it aint hair dye as the two times I tried dye stripper my old permanent colors came off but not this nor does washing lift anything - its disgusting it is being sold as wash out and something needs doing about it as I am really angry at how it have ruined by hair and my Summer as I feel ashamed. Use anything else but this rubbish.

Really like it coloured easily and blends in with grey and original blonde . Thought it was going to be really dark when I saw it but it turned out fine

Quite a messy formula, would recommend wearing gloves even though not a supplied, as it does dye your hands. Mine never quite reached the foam that it describes, it felt more like a dye on my hair. That said, it has come out with a lovely rich tint of colour which is what I was after. If you just leave it for 25 minutes, it acts like a toner. Good price

I'm a retired hairdresser and have always used a permanent hair colour on my hair. I've been looking for a semi-permanent and decided to give this one a go. I am amazed at the coverage and depth of colour this product has produced. I have alot of grey hair and it has covered with no problems. I washed my hair with a mild baby shampoo and dryed it before applying the colour and left it on for 45 mins. I have just washed my hair for the fourth time. See photo attached. I brought three of these packs thinking it wouldn't last and have only used one so far and can tell it won't need another for a few more washes. I haven't had to apply a conditioner since using and my hair has a good shine and i have had several compliments. I highly recommend this product.

Not received this yet but have purchased it many times before and find it excellent for covering the grey areas.

Nice colored shampoo, on my hair a little bit darker that on the picture. Depends on your natural color. The hair becaming shiny and nice looking, lightly covering the gray hair (the same color but a little bit more light). Getting washed away with time. Good experience, I like it very much. Can't dye the hair with traditional hair color, so for it's ideal solution

De kleur een beetje meer donker werk beter, deze kleur doe niks in mijn haar...ik weet niet waroom.
