Uxcell Solid Carbide Dill Bit 6mm
Written on 06/14/2024. Purchased a few weeks before that.I purchased this bit to drill through some tough stainless steel. I did not use it yet though because it really needs to be used in an automatic drilling or milling machine that can accurately position the bit and keep it perfectly steady. Even the slightest movement other than perfectly up and down could cause it to break. The reason other people are seeing this kind of bit break is because they might be using in a hand drill which it is not really made for. It's very easy to break that way.I have used solid carbide bits in hand drills before, but I have kept my hand firmly on some part of the work piece or table. The bit must go down and only down, with no cross movement. This is hard to do with a hand drill although it can be done. I have used various very small diameter solid carbide bits also for PC board work using a Dremel and I have had success, but again the bit must go PERFECTLY straight down with no side movement or curved movement as it goes down. Using a Dremel it is easy to cause the bit to follow a very slight curved path which could easily break the bit. It's hard to notice that you just have to be aware of it because once the bit breaks that's the end of that one. PC boards are not very thick either so it's a short travel distance which reduces the curve motion when doing it by hand like that.I'll eventually try this bit out but it's solid carbide, so I know what to expect and how nice carbide bits cut. I can go right through stainless steel with good quality carbide bits, and fiberglass PC boards are cake.Using regular HSS bits it is hard to get through the toughest stainless steel.

Used correctly, these are a lifesaver.
I had to drill a thread chaser out of a hub and chose carbide to do the job. I dulled multiple cobalt bits trying to get through the hardened tool steel and went with carbide as a hail mary before i went to a machine shop. I went slow and steady and used plenty of cutting oil. I made it through and was able to slowly but surely back it out with a bolt extractor. These bits definitely saved me from having to find a hub thats hard to find and definitely hard on the wallet. Well worth the money!

Did the job
Had to put a hole in a hardened piece of steel and had no issue with this bit. The cost of this drill bit was half the price as comparable carbide drill bits and did the job well. Happy with the purchase.

Perfect length for hole saw application
Perfect length for hole saw application. I needed a replacement bit and this worked perfectly. The work material was brass plate do I cannot comment on use of harder material.

This carbide drill bit drills through mammoth molar easily!
I thought the stubby carbide drill bit drilled through 800,000 year old mammoth molar with ease! No splits or cracking of the molar knife handle.

Great bit
Had some thick stainless to drill, slow rpm and a bit of lubricant...worked great

Quality bit
After destroying a few bits, that claimed they were strong enough for metal, I decided to find something stronger. This bit cuts through steel like butter. Small tip but does the job.
