I loved it!
I love Horrible Histories, but so far, from what i've read, all the best books in the series seem to be the ones that focus on only one country/area (i.e. France, USA, Ireland, England, Scotland, Wales, etc.). Ireland was great, I loved this book. it was informative and, like always, hilarious and chock full of jokes. I keep hearing people say that it is biased in regards to the Republic of Ireland, but I really didn't see any bias in the book. If there is any, that's how unnoticable it is. In fact, Deary is an extremely biased writer, and this was probably the book that I found the most neutral of all of his (You want biased, read USA. I still loved it, but I did notice some anti-American bias there). Overall though, this book is amazing. I loved every minute, and one of the things that helped is that unlike France or USA, I don't really know much about Ireland, so this book taught me lots of new things. Highly recommend it to anyone.

More non-PC history
Terry turns his historical magnifying glass on Ireland, to reveal its dark past instead of charming fairy tale legends. Again his dark sense of humor and irony soften the body blows of cruelty, famine and disease. Ireland has its charm now but it always wasn't this way. Still I would rather know the truth instead of tourist propaganda.

Really a horrible and biased history
Please do not buy this book. There are so many inaccuracies and it is so anti-Irish to the extent that I'm surprised it was allowed to be published. For example the he says that the Irish killed the survivors of the Spanish Armada because of their religion. They were the same religion! In reality most of them were killed by soldiers from British garrisons along the coast and those who survived were looked after by Gaelic chieftains who spoke Latin. The book also paints the Irish as a bunch of rabble and not a people who succeeded in saving their culture from centuries of oppression. Please don't give this rubbish to your children.

An Interesting Way To Introduce Irish History
With plans to explore our Irish heritage one day, this was a novel way to develop her interest in the country.Watching her browse through the pages and smiling as she did so, proved that this book was the right choice.
