Rimmel Stay Matte Foundation

Let me start by saying I am a total beauty product junkie. When it comes to foundation I've tried A LOT of expensive brands... Dior, Lancome, Chanel, Givenchy etc. etc. Last year I decided to try a cheaper one for Glastonbury, in case it got lost in a field / down a long drop like so many of my possessions previously. After much deliberation I chose Rimmel's Wake Me Up foundation, which I fell in love with and have been using until now. The only slight issue I've had is a shiny t zone later in the day, which led me to this, Rimmel's Stay Matte foundation. Firstly, I like the fact it comes in a squeezy tube. Yes, of course it doesn't look as nice as some of the fancy glass bottles, but it is so much easier to get the last out when there's not much left. When it comes to the foundation itself, on first glance I wasn't quite sure what to make of the consistency and appearance. As other reviewers have said, it's like a paste, which doesn't sound that appealing, but honestly it's great! I use a foundation brush and it goes on like silk with a lovely velvety finish. It feels light on the skin, it's easy to blend and it gives really REALLY good coverage without looking like you're The Mask. It maintains a matte appearance throughout the day and I can't emphasis enough what a smooth finish it gives, it glides over enlarged pores and covers any little imperfections. I liken it to wall filler, which smooths over cracks and wear and tear, but I'm not sure I'm doing myself or the foundation any favours with that analogy. Basically it's a great product, superb value at around 6 quid and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.

I have naturally oily and porous skin, in my teens i suffered a lot with Acne, although this tube has changed in appearance i do remember Rimmel stay matte being my go to, budget friendly foundation and it is good at covering acne and can also be layered up. I have included a photo, bare skin before and just this foundation in Ivory after. I like to wear face powder on top of this foundation too, i feel it goes well with this foundation and provides even more coverage and a better, long lasting matte effect. I often choose this foundation in favor of more expensive foundations since a more expensive price doesn't always mean better quality, at least not in my case. This is my all time favourite foundation and the Ivory colour matches perfectly to my skin tone, neither too pale nor too dark. I think a good tip i've learnt is when applying to smudge it down into the neck area too, this prevents any obvious foundation lines. From being a spotty teenager to now, in my early 30s this has always been my go to foundation, i've tried others, they've been a little hit and miss for me, but this one has never let me down, budget friendly, great coverage and feels lovely on my skin. I love Rimmel Stay Matte.

I've got oily skin with blemishes and some pigmentation spots around the eyes and cheeks. This means I have struggled to find something concealing enough to cover problem areas but light enough to not go pasty and start looking patchy as the day draws to an end. I have tried many products, expensive and cheap and I have to say this product ticks all the boxes for me. It's goes on easy and is easy to blend in. It makes my skin look porcelain smooth and matte and covers the imperfections well, even dark circles are covered well - no concealer needed. As the day goes on, I have noticed that my skin seems to stay fresh-looking without looking caked in make-up. I'm a big fan of natural looking make-up, so this is a clear winner. I only rated this 4 stars as I'm curious to see if it causes breakouts, but so far (after 3 days), it hasn't caused any spots :) I'm 25 by the way, if that's relevant.

This foundation in my opinion is the best one on the market if you like a Matt finish. It covers reallllllllllly well, lasts all day & the price is fantastic. It doesn’t look cakey , it’s a smooth finish & is far better than any top priced brand that I’ve tried including Mac / kiko/ no 7 to name a few. Brilliant !!!!!!

I have to say I was slightly disappointed with this foundation. I only applied the tiniest amount and it came out really thick and was extremely difficult to blend in. Also, the coverage wasn't the best and it didn't cover all of my blemishes as well as I had hoped. The choice of colours really isn't the best in this foundation. I got it in Ivory because it was the lightest colour they had and I have quite fair skin. However, even the lightest colour came out slightly orange and was not a good match for my skin tone. However, the price of this foundation is very good and you get alot for your money, Also, it is good for oily skin as it is a good matte finish. I would not buy this product again though!!!

It can be used without the need to put powder after it because it's already matt . Skin absorbs it and yet it provides good coverage . It's easy to distribute . My skin is light and I don't like a foundation whose shade Is lighter than my skin color . So this shade works perfect for me and it gives natural color .
