Un romanzo che ha un grave difetto: non sa acchiappare. Non ha mordente, la trama è spaventosamente blanda nonostante degli spunti molto interessanti! Ci sono personaggi con tutte le potenzialità per essere formidabili, ma finiscono con l'essere blandi, privi di direzione. Succedono cose a caso, le sottotrame perdono di importanza. Dovrebbe essere una storia corale, ma il personaggio su cui dovrebbe concentrarsi, Balif, è freddo e scostante, non si empatizza.

Good book. Storyline predictable. Could have done more for the ending as it was lackluster and a bit boring.

Elves,Kender,Barbarians, what's not to like. I would have preferred more Elven action but the story is subtle not quite what I expected so keeps you on your toes. Can't wait to start the second in series..

this was a very entertaining book, i have read the rest of the series, i liked them all. very good reading.

Alas, the disposition of the great general, Balif (bah-liff' NOT bay-leaf, as the text is quick to point out) is too sad of a reading to get a great rating. However, we do learn of the trial of Vidvidsica as well as the beginning of the land of the Kender, procured for them by Balif.
