CNC-Machine 4040-PRO for Wood Acrylic MDF Carving/Cutting, 3 Axis CNC Router Machine with GRBL Control, Support 4-Axis, Working Area 400 x 400 x 78mm

I purchased this CNC machine to accompany my earlier purchased 3018. It now lives next to my 3d printer and co2 laser cutter. So, the machine. Packaging was sturdy and somehow you knew from the outset when you picked up the box and felt the weight you had something special. Assembly. All in all took less than half an hour. Most of the machine is pre-assembled and apart from connecting a few cables here and there, it's all done for you. Parts. It comes with a spindle and Candle software, none of which I have used as I already had a Katsu router and prefer UGS as my gcode sender. Inclusions. A number of bits are supplied with the machine, though I have yet to use them as I am mostly machining aluminium. It is good that some bits are provided though. Spares. Once it is all put together, there is a spare part for each part required, for example, spare microswitches, spare bolts, etc. That certainly beats going to the DIY store after you have dropped one. So far, I could not be happier. Coupled with the higher power router, this machine is the perfect introduction to CNC machining and ticks all the right boxes. Pricewise it's extremely good value for money and in my opinion, worth every penny. If you're looking for a new hobby, buy one.

Very nice machine to put together but the software is a little bit hard to understand and use for a novice otherwise it is good and the support from Sain Smart is beyond belief I can’t fault them for all the support and emails would recommend 100% to anyone

If you are after a proper milling CNC then this unit is really not going to make you happy. The Z-axis (Bridge part) flexes at the milling spindle because it pokes out too far. If you are doing laser work or marking out/pecking heavy materials with gcode routines then this is a very useful machine indeed, simple to use with the candle software all that's missing is a g-code generator which you will have to source yourself. I used CamBam which has a free trial period and a simple interface. This unit has been built to a price which shows up in the low power spindle and the motherboard part looks pretty cheap too. The xyz axes are very nicely put together with all the wiring hidden away and you get nice movement when the unit is working. The roundbars are very adequate and look like 5/8"(about 16mm) with a 1/8" wall which is nice and strong. The big problem is the working envelope is just a bit too big for the build and if your goal is the proper milling of harder materials like soft wood you are going to struggle It's a pity because this is a great intro machine for a beginner and will get you hooked on the infinite possibilities of CNC work 1 week of use. No problems so far if you don't push it. good accuracy. I Totally recommend the offline controller for convenience but watch that SD card slot, I use a bit of duck tape. If you pick up the unit and the not-very-secure sd card moves then your 3-hours-so-far job stops dead and can't recover aaargh.

Oh my god I have had this three months now and I love it and still learning all the time. I use vcarve the offline controller which is an amazing combination it’s robust and fast I used an orange brand before and the build quality and ease of use is amazing can be used within mins of setting up.

Bought the 4040 pro, what a superb machine ! Phoned Joey at customer care a couple of times, small problem with part on machine, no arguments, no questions, new parts sent totally free of charge. I have never experienced such quality of customer care in over 60 years. Superb service, thank you Joey and sainsmart.

Hi The flashcard for activating the device doesn't work. Can you send me the software via email in a zip or rar format? UPDATE: I requested the software to be sent to me in December 2023 and I have still not received it in July 2024. Zero customer support! Thanks

Go for something else save your money you need to upgrade the motor£££ they make a spindle mount but it's like hens teeth to get hold of one ££ when they do pop up £45-60 .it struggles to cut cheap pine the noise of the the thing moving sound like someone rattling a tin of nails look's good unused sat in the corner waiting for upgrades

very accurate and amazing to watch ...bit of a learning curve but worth the effort...Great quality machine..can't fault it.

Setup was quick and very easy, this is actually the second I purchased because I like the first one so much. It is very user friendly even if you’re a beginner, it produces professional quality results. I purchased upgrades for this machine to include x and y axis extension and routers as well. I had one issue with one of my offline controllers but customer support was excellent and quickly replaced the defective controller. I am impressed with the quality of machine you get for the money, their customer support is also top notch. I did my first carve right after I received and assembled my machine, it performed better than expected, lower noise level than other machines I’ve used, the carve was very precise and detailed and the machine is very solid with no detected play I. Any of axis.

Très bon matériel j'ai acheté plusieurs accessoires en plus et le contact avec le fabricant pour le paramétrage et diverses problématique c'est très bien passé. Je recommande ce fabricant

Bijna 2 jaar geleden gekocht en ontzettend veel plezier van. Een uitstekende machine, makkelijk te monteren en (na enig inleeswerk) makkelijk te bedienen. Ik gebruik de CNC voor het maken van klokken: van de tandwielen tot de frames. Dit deed ik eerst met een electrische figuurzaag maar met deze CNC gaat het veel nauwkeuriger en sneller. Daardoor kan ik meer tijd besteden aan het ontwerp. Vooralsnog grotendeels met hout gewerkt maar recent ook met acrylglas. Machine is nauwkeurig, bijna onderhoudsvrij (af en toe even smeren) en heeft een mooi werkbereik. Sainsmart heeft een goede klantenservice voor zowel technische vragen als aftersales. Mijn Z-probe werkte niet meer en ik kreeg gratis een nieuwe toegestuurd. Uitstekende service!
