This is a very powerful and moving story of the strong bond between two men who lived in the same monastery as young men but whose lives followed completely different paths, one spiritual and one sensual. They were intellectual equals who shared many philosophical conversations.I thought it was a great read and, as I say, a very powerful and thought-provoking story.

I read it years ago but I wanted to read it again

Another good Book from the late Herrman Hesser , like the glassbead game and his other books. It makes you think!

In this amazing story the favourite theme of H. Hesse unfolds in the complementarity of the main characters. As in another masterpiece, "Siddhartha", the main character explores passionly the worldly life with a dynamic spiritual force, while his brotherly counterpart, here Narcissus, there Govinda, follows his mystical call, without being able to avoid doubt and dissatisfaction. I, as reader, have absorbed this tale like a mirror of my personal journey and a parabole of the searching man, divided and enriched by inner different needs and contrasting instincts: the hunger of the sensual world and the thirst of the deepest.

A book that will make you think. Two very different individuals two very different aspects of the mind. It’s a journey you will love
