Absolutely fantastic paper, I use the Stabilo Carbothello Pastel Pencils and the two work perfectly together. The paper itself is smooth to the touch which aids in creating a beautiful base for blending, it also has the ability to hold the whichever material you're working in well so you can layer as much as you please. I don't think I can ever go back to Cartridge, pastelmat is just too good.

Great paper but the size is not A3 ...

As you'd expect it works great, just if it's the first time you've used it practice the basics on a sheet such as how much pressure to use, blending and so on as it does take a bit of getting used to. Go on you tube and look at some of the videos on working on pastel mat paper.

Love theses boards. But expensive

I'm an artist who specialises in colouring pencil pet portraits. I have never tried the coveted Claire Fontaine pastel mat paper and recently received an Amazon gift card so I thought I would treat myself.Now this is a very expensive paper, you only get 12 sheets but I figured, if it's as amazing as they say then I had to try it.I received it a few days after ordering (along with other art supplies) and was very excited to try out my polychromos on it. When I opened it I inspected every sheet and to my disappointment I noticed that almost all the anthracite and some of the white sheets had some form of mark on them. Some looked like drips while others looked like smudges. I tried to erase one away but it wouldn't budge. I then saw that other people had had this same problem.I figured I would request a replacement since so many reviews were glowing, I thought maybe it was a one off. Today I received my replacement and to my disappointment again, there are marks except they are on every page bar one. Again they do not come off. I cannot use this for my artwork as I sell it, nor would I want to keep a faulty product. Also I should mention, as another reviewer also experienced, the pads both came bent inwards, and as it's thick card it doesn't straighten back out.I have ordered another replacement in the hopes that maybe the third one will be usable. I'm not sure what is going on with the quality control on these pads.

Love this paper! Using this has transformed how I draw and I wouldn’t go back to using standard paper when using pastels. If you’re thinking of trying this product you honestly won’t regret it, the paper feels as if it grips on to the pastel pigment yet still allows you to blend and layer. If you’re making the move to pastels then this paper is your best friend and is worth the investment to ensure you get everything out of the medium.

I've used Pastelmat for quite some years and wouldn't use anything else. It grips the pastel very well despite its' fine toothe and can even withstand the use of a little alcohol or water.

Perfect! And came in earlier than expected.

All four shades are excellent. Very Fine grain so can't be used for watercolor in normal way, though info mentioned wet techniques.Only 3 stars as pad came little damaged.

Ottima carta da usare con matite (io uso le Carbothello) e soft pastel. Le Sfumature rendono molto bene e la carta incorpora bene il colore. Non ha trame ruvide. I colori di questo album sono "neutri" quindi adatti a numerosi soggetti.
