Seagate 3 TB IronWolf 3.5 Inch 5900 RPM Internal Hard Drive for 1-8 Bay NAS Systems (64 MB Cache, 180 TB/Year Workload Rate, Up
Bought this disk to replace the failing 3TB Disk in my Ubuntu File Server which is loaded with 24TBs with ZFS. Easy swap. Id highly recommend these disks if your running some sort of a File Server or Storage Server as your regular Desktop Disks have less of a lifespam when on 24/7. The old disk i replaced with the New 3TB NAS Disk was in the File Server for 3 years. These Disks dont really get warm like regular Desktop Disks.Recommend running a long full Smart Test Overnight on any new Disk. Will order some more to Replace other Disks. These disks dont give out much vibration like Desktop Disks.Would i recommend these Disks?Yes if your going to be installing in a NAS or a Linux File Server or any other Storage Server.I would not recommend installing in a Desktop or a Workstation as a boot drive.Would be okay to use in a Workstation or Desktop as a Storage Drive.Would i recommend without Redundancy? No any disk can fail even when its new. These Disks are good if your stacking them in a backplane in a Server Chassis or NAS Chassis.Cons?None it does it job.

Drives look OK but the usual inadequate packing from Amazon.
The first thing to mention was the packaging, the three drives I ordered were just rattling around in a box with absolutely no protection, when are Amazon ever going to learn, at least they were in separate sub boxes so they couldn't bang of each other.I have tested them with the Seatools small generic test and so far all seem to be OK. I will run the more lengthy diagnostic before I commit any data to them, it takes about 5 hours per drive. For some reason the Seatools fail the quick SMART test under Windows 10 but not when using the Bootable USB OS. In fact all my drives fail the quick SMART test even though they are fine. Will update when I get them installed in my Synology NAS.**UPDATE**The drives have now 3000+ hours run time and no issues, SMART info all good, so despite Amazon packaging I have no hesitation in recommending the drives.

Just works
Most hard disks are just plug and play (or format). I bought this disk to partner a WD Red in my Readynas. The disk went in fine (as it should). It took 59 hours to format and build a redundant array in the nas. It works well (so far) and no compatibility issues. I'm hoping it goes ok as a couple of years ago I had a seagate barrcuda fail in my other nas after about 2 years. That was replaced with a WD drive. Maybe I was being optimistic then but I'll wait and see.

Great product. Poor amazon packaging
Product is great. Replaced a WDRed that failed in a light use home NAS after about 13 months. Will buy more of these in future they are quiet and quick.....and so far reliable. Only negative is the packaging that amazon delivered it in was basically the standard cardboard packing you would get a book delivered in so no padding at all so I checked it very carefully including a full surface scan before installing it into my NAS.

Works fine
It's a hard drive, it does what it says on the tin. Got in in a zxycel nas 310 for backup. Too early to comment on reliability. If it works in my older nas should be fine in everything else. A lot of suppliers say this must use disk disk xyz but usually it's a load of tosh unless a really high spec business nas

Lasted 4 years
I’m not sure what sort of life span I should expect, however I used this drive in my WD MyCloud, it lasted 4 years. Now i have a failure message, and all my data appears to have disappeared.Warning to all, please make sure you backup!

Great for my use
Needed 2 of these to replace drives in a Synology NAS. One failed but decided to replace the pair. Easy to install and are working as they should.

Better than desktop drives
Having run desktop drives for 5+ years, all of my NAS units failed within 1 week of each other. My 5 redundant storage systems became 1 last remaining. These disks are super fast and work perfectly in my Synology NAS systems. They are very quiet & a few degrees cooler than the desktop version. Time will tell if they outlast the Seagate desktop versions they replace. After 1 month use, zero reconnections or errors.
