Bright Down Lights for Paths and Steps
Purchased these path lights to light a dark alley way at the side of my house. It was a blind spot from my garden lights and I was forever tripping over the dogs as couldn't see a thing. They are surprisingly bright for what they are and give a very cool white light which shines downwards. I used the two slots on the back to mount them on a fence panel (about 5 foot high) and the amount of light was impressive. It's certainly not a floodlight, but enough to light pathways, small patio areas and steps.Included are two lights, screws and two spikes for mounting in soil or grass. But I think these are better mounted higher so the pool of light spreads more (depending on your needs). They are weather proof and take 3 x C type batteries each. Note that they are supposed to be 35 lumens of light but the manufacturers website states 20 lumens. Either way they are quite bright for what they are. There are two switches inside. One controls the amount of time the light stays on and the other allows the light to stay on in a very dim low power mode, or to turn on and off as normal through motion detection. The lights will only activate after dark and the motion sensor is 180 degrees and detects movement up to 12 feet. Hard to say how long the batteries will last as it will depend on their usage. But they should last around 12 months according to the manufacturer. These are ideal if you require a cool white light that shines downwards. They won't shine much forward of their position so for me worked best mounted higher so the light spreads. Ideal for down lighting small areas like a path or steps. Highly recommended.

Brilliant product - But wrong fitting scews
These are brilliant. Sensor works great and light omitted is perfect to light up the driveway and love the fact that the light goes off after a short while.Only real negatives are that it would be better if the backing plate of the light which is used to secure them to the wall was of a better material as plastic is not really strong enough for outside mounting. Metal would be better. Also, the fixing screws supplied were not the right size to fit in the slot provided for securing the light to the wall. I had to search for screws to fit which, due to the specific dimensions of the screw hole and slot provided, was very time consuming. And I'm not at all sure the plastic will hold up to much removal from and re-fitting to the wall when replacing the batteries.

High Quality and reliable
I bought four of these two years ago. There is no street lighting near my house and they do an excellent job of illuminating my path when coming home. I approach the house quite fast on my mountain bike and they still light up very quickly. A number of neighbours have asked me about them and they also have purchased them for their paths. If they ever break down, I'd have no hesitation in ordering them again.

Functioning well in on and off function but gave very poor light. A typical Chinese standard product
Did not do the job! Functioning well in on and off function but gave very poor light. A typical Chinese standard product. It was easy to send the rubbish back and I got the refund. The beam only went around 30 centimeters and that is hardly 1m 2. There are stronger Beam's lamps for double the price and a pity they are still for that price produced in China. Take production back to Europe! At least the company is honest to state on the box where the lamps are made and that is good!

The most durable, brightest, longest lasting lights I found
I have tried a few outdoor lights with little success. However, these are the best lights I have ever bought. I have been using 12 of these for nearly three years now and decided to write this review now when I was changing their batteries for the first time after three years! They are bright and responsive and very weather durable. They are easy to mount and you can remove the top parts with the light/batteries with ease without removing the whole light. A couple lost the little plastic cover over the motion sensor but this doesn't seem to impact the functionality. I will order a few more soon.

Bit disappointed with these
Bit disappointed with these, especially after buying the excellent Ultra Bright Spotlight by Mr Beams. These Path Lights do not project their light very far and tend to create a shadow. Their activation range is very good and they are easy to assemble. Although rain water tends to collect in the bottom of the pocket it hasn't infiltrated the unit. They stick in the ground well enough on the supplied spikes and can be removed easily from the spike to hold like a torch. They are OK if you have several alongside a straight narrow path, but not a wide one that has bends in it. I would buy more if the light was stronger.

Very good
Easy to assemble, work well, enough to light up path to front door. Sensor works well, not as much light as I had expected but for size good enough for requirement.

Great lights
I am impressed with the scope of these lights and do a great job lighting over a good distance. As I have only owned them for a short while I cannot comment on how long the claimed 12 months battery life is.

Sturdy reliable lights
Great sturdy weatherproof lights - one of mine has survived being run over in the mud a few times. The batteries last a long time in motion sensor mode.

Nine months and all 12 lights still working with original batteries -- perfect in every way.
So far these lights work perfectly. Not sure how long the batteries will last. Lights turn on when within 10 feet and light my way to the house perfectly. I live in the Pacific Northwest so these lights will be put through a rigorous "rain" test. I'll update this review again but I would say that they are working out great! Update: 30 days and still work perfectly. I'm impressed so far. Will update again at 90 days.Update 2: 120 days and still working perfectly -- even through our torrential rains. Same batteries too (Amazon batteries)Update 3: Six months and STILL working perfectly with the same Amazon batteries.Update 4: Seven months and STILL working with original batteries. I have 12 lights and they are all working perfectly even with the torrential downpours.Update 5: Nine moths and STILL working with original batteries. Only thing I now notice is that the sensor activates at about five feet rather than ten (I think as the battery power diminishes the sensor capabilities are compromised). HOWEVER they are working perfectly through rain, snow, and cold sub zero temperatures -- all 12!Update 6: Ten months and three lights needed batteries replaced. And yes, the sensor activates now at ten feet with fresh batteries. And one final note: I have the "nightlight" feature activated on the lights so there is a bit of battery drainage each night. You could save battery life by not using the nightlight feature -- but I like to see where the lights are when approaching.Update 7: (My final update) 13 months now and believe it or not all lights still working. I've only had to replace batteries in four of the twelve lights. Through snow, wind, Pacific Northwest downpours these lights remain intact and working. One note: as plants grow around the lights if it gets breezy the plants can activate the lights so try not to have plants growing too close to the lights. I've had to trim the plants around a couple of lights that kept coming on. And finally sitting on my balcony one night a noticed in the distance the lights were turning on one my one. Finally a coyote appeared having activated all the lights! He/she just kept on going by.

Lighting for safety and security
Solar powered lights work well when there is adequate light for the solar panels. Overhanging trees, a thicket of brush, or simply the shorter days of winter keep lights from working well. I bought these to highlight an area should wildlife come through. These lights work very well. They don't bask the area in light, but provide illumination enough to see that "something is out there", and may or many not need my attention.I have found that these lights have kept Geese away, and foxes. There has been a history with these animals, and with these units working throughout the evening, keep these little animals away. I suppose the sudden light at night is enough to scare them away. I suppose they find another route to where they are going.Another surprising feature is that they have kept the bears away from the apple trees as well. This was unexpected because I did not think that a bear would be that timid, nor easily scared away. The bears tend to stay away during the day, but at the evening, or perhaps at night, will "vandalize" aspects of the lakeside property, but this year has been completely different.I was surprised at how well these work.I have bought additional units for my home in the city. I planted these within the shrubs along the driveway, and with the darkened windows on my vehicle, it is sometimes difficult to know exactly where the edge of the paving is, and where the meagre plants I have start. These lights do a perfect job of keeping me posted. They use very little power, and am impressed at how a few batteries can keep the lights working so very well. As they don't have to be out in the sunlight to recharge, they can be "hidden" or installed in unexpected places.I am going to buy a few more, and keep them near my parents' outside stairs. The light that is generated would be enough to illuminate the trickier places, and hopefully keep my parents from slipping and having me visit either of them in the hospital.GREAT UNIT! I will be buying more.
