Nope, they are not noise what so ever! They 'crackle' ever so slightly but they are more of a visual display rather than a 'shock' effect! They give off a bit of smoke and some people (not me though) do complain about the smoke but they're a bit of fun. Try them and make your own mind up. I've bought about 6 boxes over the years. The first time you see them is rather amusing but as an adult they are a complete waste of money, but for a young child they are 'interesting'! Enjoy! Lol.

How do you ignite them? And can they be linked?

Just touch the item with a long match or BBQ lighter,secondly no they cannot be linked together. hope this helps
