Q: Do you need the tado thermostat to use the tado smart TRVs or will they work if you've got nest or hive?

I've done this by using the new Smart Radiator starter kit. They work. But... Picture a scenario where you set the TRV to say 19C but your Hive thermostat to 21C Your boiler will keep firing because the TRV will never go above the 19C it's set to. So you need to be careful to set the TRV to the same heat as the Hive thermostat - it'd be handy if there was an IFTTT recipe to sync them. I asked both Hive and Tado but nothing has ever come of it.

Q: Can i add few trvs to radiators already controlled with salus it500 app? basically run the two systems in parallel? salus downstairs tado trv upstairs

Hi TonyC, If you only have Smart Radiator Thermostats you don't have control over the boiler. You can just control the radiators independently, but they depend on the heating availability (the boiler may control itself or use a different control) For more information please contact our technical support team: https://goo.gl/zvAEKkto control the boiler you need the smart thermostat (and maybe the extension kit)
