Review: BUY THIS - After watching the umbrella academy on Netflix (a must watch if you haven’t seen it) I decided I wanted to read the comics. I think that the Netflix show takes a different perspective from the comic book but I think both are gripping and wonderful. I really enjoyed this and am planning on buying the next volume: Dallas, which is featured in season 2 of the umbrella academy on Netflix. I really recommend this but if you have Netflix to first watch the show and see if you enjoy it because it’s not for everybody. If you haven't seen the Netflix show the comic alone may be quite confusing. So far I have given off that the book is confusing; even if it may be confusing at times I believe that the story is still gripping and kept me hooked (I had to slow down for fear of finishing it too fast). The artwork is astonishing in its own way and unlike anything I’ve seen before- by this I mean it has a very specific style and I think it works perfectly with the plot and characters. If you like superhero comic books buy this. If you are sick of superhero comic books buy this. If you have never picked up a comic book BUY THIS. Review: Nice comic - Read the comic after watching the series really enjoyed

i loved it
it was a great read, kind of short, still good though, nothing like the netflix show so don't buy it if you wanted it to be exactly like the show. In my opinion, it was better, especially as this is literally the original story!

The opening arc of Umbrella Academy
While watched the Netflix show before reading this, this was still a fun read. The drastic differences between the comic storyline and show storyline seemed to have all been made in order to repurpose what is meant to be a short, efficient comic introductory arc into a full season of story. If you liked the show, you’ll like the comic but don’t expect the amount of character depth, time to breath and conclusiveness the first season had. This is essentially the Umbrella Academy equivalent of the Romance Dawn arc of One Piece, it introduces the world and the main characters effectively and efficiently… leaving plenty of room for later storylines to add to the cast and flesh out the already introduced elements. A good start to a zany comic book series.

The dance scene is terrible but don’t let it put you off
Oh my God. Fantastic. First attempt at watching I gave up really quickly as there was a bad dance scene which turned me and the tv off. Next time I tried, I got past that bit (made a cuppa) and allowed myself to be swallowed up entirely. Absolutely and totally wonderful. Gorgeous. Insane. Crackers. Loved it

Apocalypse Suite
Where do I start? The Umbrella Academy: Apocalypse is everything all at once. Bit of X-Men, bit of Grant Morrison's Doom Patrol and even a bit of Alan Moore's Watchmen, as well as a bunch of unique aspects makes for an interesting, fast-paced story. Couple that with Gabriel Bá's amazing art and Dave Stewart's interesting colours, and we have a comic book to return to.

If you are planning to buy this after watching the series pleas don’t go for it .. it’s not even near the the series .. I guess that’s why they picked the concept but changed the story and presentation ..

Wow, I was really happily surprised with this. I had not watched the Netflix series (still have not). I loved the way they developed the characters so well in such a short story. I loved the art, it's a bit weird and different. I will definitely buy the other books.

This series is supreme. The characters are fleshed-out, the action is very well-done, and the art is wonderful. The drawings were very polished, the color palette was extremely unique, and the story is immersive. The violence is a bit graphic, with blood spattering occasionally, but nothing a 13-year old can’t handle. There are two cuss words, but not repeated. There are about three pages with “suggestive” content in the background, but they serve a purpose in the story. This graphic novel/comic book is for everyone who loves action, adventure, and some violence. I recommend this to everyone 13-14 years old and up.
