What material is the hotplate itself made of, please? does it contain teflon or aluminium? thanks

Whilst I'm not exactly sure what I can say is that I think the surface is anodised steel. I don't think it has a telfon finish. It has remained pristine since I bought it and we have used it many times without any marks on the surface appearing. Food doesn't adhere to the surface. It's very easy to clean by using the supplied wooden scrapers and non-abrasive wipes. Very impressed - although it is early days!

can i use this to cook welsh cakes and pncakes

I'm not sure about the cake! But I think the pancakes is fine!
