Plus 1: The Introductory Coaching System for Maths Success

Worth the investment
Purchased for my homeschooled Year 1, 6 year old daughter. We've been using this book for about a month now. The way it works is a child must get 3 consecutive ticks for a concept to be considered learned. Much like the Toe By Toe(R) phonics programme which we also use. Starts off very basic with number recognition of the numeric symbol and subitizing dots and by the end the book the child is doing addition and subtraction (2 digit + 1 digit equations). It's repetitive and quick which works well with my 6 year olds attention span and managing her frustration levels. We get through a page every 3 days (or however long it takes her to get the 3 ticks) so also very friendly on my time to administer daily. It's starts off super easy which builds confidence and gets incrementally harder. We're only a month in, on p.26 and there are a 125 pages to complete.Great for reinforcement as supplement to concepts being learnt through a maths curriculum (for example).Great for identifying areas of strengths and weaknesses and addressing them there then either with the programme or providing extra assistance using other materials to help the child master a concept they may find challenging. And finally a simple and useful record of progression that's easy to store in a drawer. Well worth the investment in my opinion.

Excellent resource for going over the basics.
Easy to follow booklet, great diagrams and explanations. It’s great for going over number bonds to 20, counting in tens, twos etc. tasks for what number is before/after, what number is greater, identifying numbers pictorially and being able to read. I e been using it both as a teacher and a parent. Moving onto Power of two next 😁

Really good for those struggling with maths!
Purchased this for my 7 year old who has difficulties with numbers and maths in school. So far she is flying through it, and it seems to be giving her confidence in Maths. We started working through the book on the 4th and are nearly half way through. If you had said that to me before purchasing, I'd have laughed you out of it.Plus 1 starts at the absolute basics, reading numbers and builds up a gradual foundation with each page building on previous math skills. I would absolutely recommend taking your time and not skipping the "easy" stuff as everything builds on each other. I also find that the "easy" stuff boosts my daughters confidence and encourages her to keep going.Would recommend this book for anyone whose child is finding maths difficult.

Happy to recommend
Arrived promptly. Small amount of damage to the top outer corner of a number of pages (most likely due to a spillage of sorts?) but this does not affect the text and the product can be used effectively. Im very happy with the product and the speed of delivery.

Good support programme.
We use this coaching system with children who need to reinforce basic number skills such as number bonds as their confident and correct use is so important as maths teaching and learning moves on through primary school. The repetitive nature of the programme could be considered a little dry but our children seem to enjoy the repetitive nature of the programme and the fact that they see their skills improving which in turn boosts their self-esteem and confidence.

Just what I needed
Bought this for my daughter who has recently been diagnosed as being dyslexic. She is in first class in primary school and is having trouble with the basic mechanics of maths i.e. number order, tens and units etc. Having just received the book I am delighted as it is exactly what her teacher had requested I do with her but in a more structured way than I could have done on my own - am thrilled
