Clairefontaine Pastelmat is amazing! It is so easy to blend soft pastel colors on this product. I love the look and the feel. It is a game changer for me.

Fantastic product for pastel artist. It’s heavier than most, takes many layers of pastels. Easily to blend.

FYI - these are really good for oil pastels too. And worth the expense. They hold the pastel pigments better than any other material I've tried (and I've tried many). Even without applying fixative, the oil pastel doesn't come off or stick to, for example, glassine sheets protecting the artwork.

Nothing to dislike other than one corner was a little bent due to inadequate packaging on Amazon's part.

I bought this paper to take some classes in a colored pencil academy by Bonny Snowdon. I had never used Pastelmat before and really enjoyed the outcome. Being left-handed I found the pencils would smear but realized the glassine sheets between the pages work wonders to prevent that going forward. I knocked off one star because I noticed a couple of tiny imperfections in the manufacturing process in the surface of the paper on a couple of sheets.

Pastelmat is hard to find and since there is no substitute for this substrate (my favorite) being able to find it in all the available colors and sizes and at a reasonable price is wonderful.

I purchased these for a beginner's pastel workshop that I taught for my local art guild. It's important to have the proper surface and quality pastels to fully experience the potential of the pastel medium. Pastelmat provides a consistent surface that is smooth enough to achieve a velvety look and smooth gradient blending while also having enough of a tooth to capture and hold pigment. Far better-looking results than those so-called pastel papers that have a textured surface that shows through your finished work.

Only 4 white sheets not 12 as mentioned...no glued pad...no glassine paper as well .. please don't buy this product.
