Creature Peeper

Good idea but badly made.
Basically good idea but the quality of manufacture is terrible. The lenses are very poor and have a tiny field of focus. They really don't give the magnification I was expecting and the subject is just hazy and unclear. The lid does not stay shut particularly well either. If you have a bug in there and put it on the ground, the lid is likely to fall off, releasing your object of study and causing tears of disappointment or terror from the kids who have been unsuccessfully trying to see the thing in greater detail. If the lenses were better, it would be a great product but as it is, you're frankly probably better off with a jam jar and magnifying glass.

Does not work.
Completely out of focus. Therefore utterly useless. Will be asking for my money back.

Decent quality, works well
Considering this is aimed at children it is really good quality. I happily gave this to a child to play with, there's no way that it will get broken and leave sharp edges which a child could hurt themselves on.It's easy to use and the magnification is really good. It's good fun and because of the two viewers you can see the underneath of an insect as well as looking at them from the top.For younger children this would be a bit more challenging to use because of the way you screw the top on, so would need plenty of adult intervention - not an independent toy for younger children.

SUPER ITEM - SUPER PRICE
I bought this product for my grandson's third birthday together with other bug related products.I have found it brilliant value for money. It is of sturdy and safe construction and is durable enough to be taken out on walks/ trips to the park etc. It also cleans up well - especially useful if slugs or snails etc are observed. It has been used on a regular basis and my grandson has found it fascinating and exciting to view the various small creatures we find in the garden. The only problem has been persuading him to set the creatures free again!

Fun for kids - perhaps!
I endorse the other reviews with regard to the lid falling off.My other criticism is that (on mine at any rate) there is a fair amount of distortion in the plastic lens, which just doesn't seem to magnify x3.Having said that, it does what it is intended to do and (hopefully) gets children interested in the world around them, but if you want more detail, you might not find it here.

useless
Bought this for my little boy, the lens is so poorly made any benefits of zooming into the bug, is completely ruined by the blur. I get this is a toy not a piece of scientific equipment. But it fails at it's only purpose.
