BATTLES Poultry Spice - 450g

Really delicious - just add a teaspoon to any casserole or stew and it really boosts the flavours, stir into a mug of hot water for a restorative drink, or simply sprinkle over your morning cereals....... I'm joking of course. It's for chickens. I mix a half a tsp into some natural yoghurt each evening, add a sprinkle of sunflower seeds, then mix in some rolled oats and raisins. This is the 'porridge' that my girls go to bed on most evening, they come running back into their enclosure from their free ranging when they see me with it. It's all gone in a matter of seconds, and they all go to bed with a full crop. Lovely hard shells and delicious eggs so I think it's an easy way to ensure that my girls are getting everything they need in their diet. Have been using it for years.

I like the fact it has a scent and is ideal for direct use on birds or on the perch and nesting area. I would use it with other mite products as I don’t think it’s a stand alone cure for red mite. I think it’s a never ending problem when you have chickens. The little buggers get everywhere.

Well, the chickens eat it mixed in with their pellets. Haven't really noticed any great difference. Eggs are good, condition of feathers and chickens excellent. So perhaps this is down to the Spice.

good way to get essential spice into chicken foods

Birds eat more and with added gusto when this is added for pigeons. Would be good to add to wild bird feed to give them extra help.
