It is indeed quieter than the factory unit.
The factory unit was so loud that I had to put it on low to have a conversation or off if I wanted to listen to music or the TV.Not so with the FreshJet 3. It’s not whisper quiet but no longer have to turn it off to listen to music or watch TV. And I can have a conversation even when it is on High.Unfortunately I had to buy the matching cover even though I was told I could use my existing. Grr. That was another $200. But the cover was easy to install and works fine.Over all I’m Very Pleased with the new a/c equipment.

Mine arrived destroyed, too...
Like so many others, my unit arrived with a completely destroyed bottom half, even though the box was not damaged. This 70 pound AC is literally sitting on a cardboard tray, with a cardboard lid on top. That's the extent of packaging. I can't imagine how any of these ever arrive unscathed. This packaging issue has been reported for well over a year, yet Dometic still can't be bothered to stick some styrofoam around the base? I'd say that speaks volumes about their commitment to quality.

Easy install.
I have a 2009 keystone cougar with a dometic AC unit with the older analog T-stat. I removed my old unit, cleaned the sealing surface, used some silicone sealant just due to the older mating surface of the camper is quite flat anymore. Put the new unit down, plugged it in to my control box (same plug) bolted everything together and works fine. Did not need a new T stat or seal kit for it. Total about 2 hrs of time including cleaning and resealing up the duct work on the inside while i had the unit out. Plug and play install.Edit: unit froze up and tripped breaker couple times. returning this unit.

Probably should have done some more research
Received the unit promptly however was disappointed it did not come with the fan control unit that goes on the ceiling in the RV. Also did not come with installation instructions. Had to order the controller which set me back another week and $200.00. After receiving the instruction the unit was pretty simple to install.Went to fire unit up and the fan would not start, just hummed. After some investigation pulled the plastic shroud off the top of the unit and found the styrofoam encasing the squirrel cage was binding on the motor shaft. First thought I may have over tightened hold down bolts so released them so the unit was just sitting on the roof. This did nothing, the shaft was still bound up. By chance I asked my assistant to try and turn the unit on while I had my hand resting on the styrofoam and the fan came on. Was still dragging a bit so I applied more pressure and the fan was free. Released the pressure and started dragging again. This was obviously a factory defect and should have sent the unit back however the heat was on and could not wait another 2 weeks for a new unit that may or may not have the same issue.I deducted that if I placed some foam padding between the the styrofoam and the top shroud this would supply adequate pressure to release the bound fan shaft after the shroud was installed. It worked and unit is now operating as it should.Obviously these units are not factory tested so buyer beware.

Unit draws excessive current intermittently
Unit drew too much current , intermittently, and tripped the 20 amp breaker feeding it from the first time it was powered up. The manufacturers answer was to “ bring it to a service center for repair” . The Freon circuit is a sealed unit and thus repair is impossible or impractible so I opted to return it to the supplier as it was within the 30 day return period,
