bought this to replace unreliable powerline ethernet for my server, as the MT7610U chipset is supported since linux 4.19 allegedly. it was recognised immediately in dmesg, and i just had to update the interface name in wicd config

Very good quality WiFi adapter. I had some cheap anténa in my TV box before and the WiFi signal was dropping, picture was freezing. With this piece of kit it's great, WiFi works flawlessly and I don't need to keep restarting the box. Highly recommended

This receiver does not work with a MAG 524 box. The features listed on the box make no mention of being compatible with any MAG box as stated on Amazon. It is not the same brand as advertised on Amazon. False advertising. A waste of money.

From other reviews it seems this is fine for most set-top boxes based on Linux, and certainly Debian includes a driver for the MT7610U chipset. However, I had poor results with Raspberry OS (Debian Bullseye 32-bit) on a Pi Zero W. The adapter connected on both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz, but the signal strength was little better than the Pi’s built-in antenna and the whole system kept crashing. The whole point of looking for a MT7610U device is that it should be plug and play.The packaging also says it supports macOS as well as Windows and Linux. At least for modern versions of macOS, this is really stretching a point. You need to download drivers, the URL provided is wrong (lacks a “.com”), and I’m not convinced that an up-to-date macOS driver is actually available. To be fair the vendor isn’t advertising it for macOS and I didn’t buy it for that purpose, but the packaging is still misleading.

I bought this dongle for my nephew to use with his mag254 box. I tested it with my own mag254 box first and the streaming was poor quality with many stutters on iptv channels. My own two, different wi-fi dongles, both cheaper than this one work flawlessly. So £16.25 for a rubbish dongle, don't waste your time. I'm sending this back.
